I have a lat pulldown attachment in my weight cage, and it's just not
very smooth. I want to lube it up, and my neighbor said that lubeing
it up with "lithium grease" is the best option. However, i can't find
any evidence of this in this group. Anyone have suggestions?...
lithium grease, wd40, other?

Thanks!
John

Go to any hardware store and ask for silicone lubricant spray.

I agree with the silicone suggestion. I did this to a lat pulldown
unit that I bought from TDS (NewYorkBarbell), and it is now very
smooth. The cables also no longer get twisted like they did before I
sprayed the posts.

Don't use WD40. It will cause it to move smoother for a while, but it
will eventually dry out the bearings in the pullys. WD40 is a
penetrating oil, not a lubricant.

I use a silicone based spray available at Sears or any sporting goods
store. They may have them around the treadmills. I have used lithium
grease as well, but the store bought equipment lube is slicker and not
as thick IMO.

I agree with you, but www.wd40.com says it is a "light lubricant". Couldn't
water be classified as a light lubricant?
