"Dumb people live in hurricane country, then cry when their lives are

What bugs me is the ones who have no insurance, and now want the
government (i.e., taxpayers) to pay for their losses.
--
John Richards
Can't take care of my own shit, so of course, the government must
pay!!!!!!
When you call people "Dum," you should use a dictionary.
The word is spelled "dumb."
List of places to live that are completely free of natural disasters:
<begin>
<end>
As you can see, the list is quite short.
Jeff
You're right. Let's let the people the just die in Florida. No help with
rebuilding their houses, getting new clothes, etc. And if they need to poop,
let the squat where they are. They really don't need shelter, either. Maybe
we could be real nice, and provide them some tents and blankets for when it
gets cold.
I mean, what do we need them for? They have low-paying jobs and can barely
make ends meet. The jobs that give rich people services, like ready people
to pay for gas on the way to the resort, cleaning the bathrooms in the
resort, and making food in McDonalds on the way to the resort.
Unfortunately, there people don't have money to begin with.
I am glad our government is helping them.

That's not what he said. He's bugged by the ones with no insurance,
and I agree with him.
One of the employees at my company had her house burn down. This was a
house she inherited from her father free and clear -- no mortgate,
nothing. She didn't have home insurance, so when it went up in flames,
a memo circulated around the company asking us to donate part of our
meager paychecks to help her get a new house.
Our house went up in an electrical fire a few years back. You know how
we rebuilt? With the insurance money that we paid for and budgeted as
a cost of owning the house.
> I am glad our government is helping them.
While they rebuild, absolutely. But as a taxpayer I'll be mightily
annoyed if my money goes towards rebuilding their individual homes at
the same time I pay my own insurance premiums.

You're a Spencerist, I see.
> I am glad our government is helping them.
You're also of limited imagination.
I believe that people should accept the consequences of their actions.
If you choose to live in an area, you should be prepared to accept the
natural results. It is common knowledge that destructive weather
happens on a more frequent basis in some locales. The higher costs of
living in those places should naturally be borne by the residents, not
by society as a whole.
Where your sarcastic logic fails is in your incorrect assumption that
forced charity is the only possible recourse. Instead of the government
stealing from Peter to pay for Paul's irresponsible actions, it's
appropriate that YOU contribute to private charity to correct the harm
you feel so strongly should be addressed. Vote with your dollars, salve
your conscience, but don't presume to make that decision for others, who
may feel compelled to support more deserving (i.e. responsible) needs,
more local needs, or simply choose to accept social Darwinism in order
to strengthen society (rightly or wrongly).
While we're mocking those who are "dumb" enough to live in Hurricane Alley,
how about the West and East Coasts where the homes are on Beach fronts
facing erosion. How about those who live in Tornado Alley and so on? I also
know of areas NOW being hit by tornados or tornadic activity that never
experienced such weather before... What about those in River valleys? Where
do you suppose they move? The wx plays no favorites to any one or any where.
IF it is God's will to destroy your homes, he will... OR Mother Nature or
any other force you care to acknowledge in addition or in place of. NONE of
us are safe.. I suppose if you move all those DUMB enough to live in those
places, then those who would vacation in those places, as many do... would
be DUMB for going there too, isn't that right? So, forget the Disney Worlds
and other vacation spots. Let's also move the people off the islands who get
ravaged as well... WHERE IN THE HELL DO YOU GO?? NO WHERE IS COMPLETELY
SAFE.
I agree people SHOULD have insurance, but some barely get by as it is....
AND be pissed off if you want about rebuilding their lives.... At least they
are Americans. We're spending BILLIONS to rebuild IRAQ, a nation who HATES
OUR GUTS.. I don't hear anyone bitching about their meager pay checks paying
out their asses towards taxes for that.......
Life's like that.
Some people live in reality, others want a government nanny.
Of course, "government" is just another way of saying that
they don't want to take personal responsibility, but want
to place the burden _forced_ on everyone else.
You've missed entirely the point of the post - this is a proper
role for private charity, not government intervention.
As I said, vote with your dollars. Have _you_ given
to hurricane Charley relief efforts, or do you just support
forcing _others_ to give by force of government?
Try to find a place where no natural disasters occur.

As someone who is living in Kissimmee, Florida, I can safely say
that this is the most intelligent post I've seen on this thread. I
lost my roof and have spent the past 3 days battling the weather but
I'm holding my own and helping neighbors wherever I can. I have
neighbors that lost a lot more than a few shingles, some of them have
been forced into shelters or staying with friends as their homes are
uninhabitable. Sure, we got hit bad, but there are others far worse.
This statement hits home due to the fact that we are spending billions
to rebuild a country that hates us (and always will) while people in
this country are starving. Some of them are suffering from their own
mistakes but a large majority are victims of the working economy. I've
talked to a few people that have discovered that their insurance
doesn't cover hurricane damage (it's written in legaleze so common
people don't see it). They've been paying and they're still screwed...

But you know what's worse? Is people that get on the internet thinking they

Welcome, newbie!
You will eventually learn that cross-posting off-topic messages is
a time honored tradition on Usenet.
>Sounds like they didn't buy the correct insurance so they've been paying

Do me a favor, post your drivel so that it doesn't look like it was

THIS is what I called "intelligent"
Newbie? Actually I've been on Usenet since '96 so that makes me about as
much of a newbie as Bill Gates. My point was that it's not proper to
cross-post. But since I have no idea to which group you belong to ... again
I am forced to cross-post in order to answer you.
You can say that again. After the tax cut that dumb-ass Bush gave out, they
are giving a lot less rich people of thier income as taxes. Too bad he
didn't do as much for middle class and poor people. His no child left behind
act should be no millionair left behind act.
> "I've never worked for a poor person
I have. I am proud to be a mentor for two kids without a ton of money.
And who do you think spend a larger percentage of their income on auto fuel,
telephones and other necessities of life that bring a bunch of profits to
rich people?
When buying insurance means that you won't be able to afford food, most
people will go for food. I bet a lot of the people who lived in mobile homes
couldn't afford insurance. Povery sucks.
I guess you can think of the government aid as insurance for everyone. If
your area is hit by a big natural disaster, the feds will help you, too.
The feds even helped some around NYC after 9/11. Too bad they aren't paying
communities for the extra policing that is now required for homeland
security. A lot of community policing got cut out of city budgets.

What's your point? That insurance companies know unacceptable risk when
they see it?
> What's your point? That insurance companies know
>unacceptable risk when they see it?
The dumb ass is just so proud to display his inability to
spell correctly and use proper English grammar. Note
the onager's use of "there" for "their."
erskine
Now, Brattworst, you know nobody's going to fall for one of your imbyscilic
tricks. You've already been told over and over again to stop forging
people's nicknames and email addy's. You should also learn to spell better.
Do they teach you that at the 'special' school? Go on, find the spelling
mistake this time. Oh, a 'special' school is where people with intellectual
problems go. Some say it's genetic - mummy or daddy 'not-quite-there'?
No, the point is the OP was mad that these people are asking for help
instead of having insurance. It's because they (some) CAN'T get
insurance.
When insurance companies consider the risk too hazardous, or the
premiums become astronomical, that is a good clue that people
shouldn't be building houses there. This country still has many
under-populated areas, such as Arizona, where there are no
hurricanes, earthquakes, or tornadoes. I never understood why
so many people retire in Florida: high humidity, snakes, mosquitoes
and lots of other bugs, it's all bad.
--
John Richards
If you can't afford hurricane insurance, you shouldn't own a home in a
hurricane-prone area. That's common sense. Let them be poor somewhere
else, like Arizona, where there are no hurricanes, earthquakes or tornadoes.
Taxpayers shouldn't have to build you a new house every few years, just
because you insist on living in a hurricane zone without insurance.
--
John Richards
Oh, yea. He should have been mad that these people are asking for help
because they chose to live in a high risk area without being able to
afford the risk.
Your grammar is atrocious! Didn't learn anything at the special school,
hmmmm?
>what are you talking about... you just posted to make it look like I
>said something I didn't. Jackass.
I did no such thing unless your header got misquoted on the post.
Either way, your insistence on name calling has pointed out to me that
you are not capable of mature discussion nor are you worth the effort
