As an owner of a 22-250 which I used to hunt groundhogs, I can attest to
the damaged done by these high-velocity .22 rounds. Generally, the
exploding bullet will destroy flesh and bone in a volume approximating a
grapefruit, which I witnessed from a number of groundhogs I killed. The
claim that the harm done is a liberal lie is just that-a conservative
lie meant to justify keeping AR-15's on the market. Any varminter who
has used these HV rifles can attest to the damage they do.

CBS 60 minutes ran a story about the special training and equipment
medical people needed to deal with the horrible wounds children
received, if they even survived. Many lost limbs and many more required
a dozen or more operations, many shown on camera during the show.
Another demo of a .223 round shot into a gelatin showed the explosive
nature of the round which they compared to a 9mm handgun, which simply
plowed through the gelatin intact.

Here's the truth. The gun mfrs are doing their best, with the aid of the
Republicans and the 2d Amendment gun nuts, to outright lie about the
AR-15 and the horrible damage the HV bullet does to flesh and bone. The
HV 22 caliber was originally designed as a varminter and adapted by the
military to save weight compared to the .308/30-06 then in use. There is
NO LEGITIMATE USE for these weapons and their high capacity magazines in
civilian hands except for varminters They really ought to be removed
from the maarketplace.
