Thought AFPF who post from France might be interested to know that the
Phoenix Art Museum has done a superb job with the touring Monet paintings.
They even had an audio guide which ( at no extra cost) discussed not only
the paintings, but Monet's life at Giverny. Even "for family dialogue" to
make it interesting for children. Anyone who can attend this exhibit,
should. It is exquisite. Beth

P.S. to Maeve. Paris, France is now our second largest division for new
home sales. Right behind, you guessed it, Las Vegas. :) Cheers.

How about the darling John Everett Millais, who in his brief inter-regnum
(circa 1850 and so) emphasised sincerity, nature and sincerity in the
pre-Raphaelite broederbund?

I'm ashamed to say that although I have looked at loads of pictures and photos
of Monet's garden at Giverny I have never visited there .I will one day.
I suppose the house sales are partly because of the space in France and the
French are top buyers of second homes ?? nice to speak to you again Beth

Beth, you are so lucky to have had the opportunity....!
Just reminded me of a little joke...do you mind??

Recently a guy in Paris nearly got away with stealing several paintings from
the Louvre.
However, after planning the crime, breaking in, evading security, getting
out and escaping with the goods, he was captured only two blocks away when
his Econoline van ran out of gas.
When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an
obvious error, he replied:

(brace yourself, this is VERY bad!!)

"I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh".

di<~~~~begging forgiveness!!

Shame on you Maeve!!
But you are forgiven, I live about 10 miles from Durham Cathedral and
last year was my first visit for maybe 35 years or something like
that. Because it's on the doorstep, we think that we can go anytime
and so we end up not going at all :-))
See you at Giverny some time, perhaps, maybe, one of these days...

I can understand that, Maeve. I went to college not too far from the Grand
Canyon in the 1960's, and drove by it many times as I crossed the U.S., yet
my first visit was in 1997. Went with my daughter & we rode the train in
from Williams, Arizona on a snowy day. Spent most of the day in the fog,
but around 2 p.m. the fog lifted and we did get to see it.

Yes, this has been an awful weekend for the South of France. 26 dead and 2 have
not been found yet, thousands of people are without electricity and proper
lodgings, they haven't had so much rain for 60 years in such a short time.
It's frightful what watre can do. 80 % of the roads are still flooded or
damaged.

Should this be called 'Things I should have done@?
I should have been to Kew Gardens in London, and Windsor castle and
Hampden Court.
One day I will go there and enjoy the places.
I've been to The Grand Canyon, but not to Monet's gardens.
One day I will do those visits .Seriously.
