To-day June and I went to the Launston show.. it's an Agricultural meeting
with lots of prize Cows - Sheep - Horses - Prize Bull's etc... all combined
with lots of trade stands which were mostly farm related . What a fantastic
day - friendly people all together with a common interest- farming and the
countryside.
June had made a couple of WI entries. A "film on a plate" .... and , more
adventurously an entry in the art section with a flower painting !!
The show was a sell-out - thousands of people enjoying the sunshine -
watching the events - wonderful. A chance to escape all the depressing
news - if only for a few hours. For want of some better words - it was a
simple day - a "back to basics" sort of day. Home baked cake stalls- candy
floss -and ferret racing ..... and all the old things like skittles.....
hoopla.... even a "bat the rat"...... We walked for miles... forgot the
diet's and indulged in some forbidder food's - like real ice cream... and a
cream tea designed to feed an army....... Ahhhh wonderful stuff.
To top it all off June's watercolour painting of some Iris's won third
prize - to see the beaming smile on her face was priceless !
Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Hushup.

It sounds somewhat similar to our county fairs, but on a less commercial
scale. Great fun! Congratulations to June!

Glad you had a wonderful, if tiring day. Congratulations to June on her
third prize, Well done June!
John and I have spent many a happy hour at the Launceston Show, John,
going way back. His Mother baked a variety of cakes for the event.....
You had a lovely day for it but I know just how dusty it can be.....
Sounds like a great day out....
