Quick, Europeans we may be able to talk for a few hours, I think the
Americans (I got a mail saying that somebody doesn't like the word Yank) are
all eating. We have had Thanksgiving plans, menus, how many are coming,
Peacan pie receipes and stories of them being cooked, more plans,
thanksgiving travel reports and uncle tom cobly and all. Within hours we
will be getting meal reports, what happend reports, left over Turkey usage
reports (we already had some) and other tales I can't even think of. So we
Europeans may just have a couple of hours to talk. Kelly how was your day?
Mick tell us a story, Bobbie how is the study going?
Maeve how is the weather? Its very windy here, (Notice I did not make fun of
your keyboard problems.) Big Al I didnt think much of the football over the
last two nights. Loes how is the digging go? Coby I think your voice site is
fantastic. And anybody else that wants to talk about anything.

My day was fine, but long as every Thursday is. Started working at 8 and came back home at quarter
to five. Every Thursday I have lunch at school since I do not have a long enough break to go home
for lunch.
It's quite nice to have lunch with colleagues once in a while though. We are a little group that
meet every Thursday now, we discuss anything from politics to 'bad' pupils! <g>
I had a good laugh at the end of my last lesson. We were discussing what kind of text we should
study now that we finish the one we're doing (Eveline, a short story by James Joyce). It's a bit
sad, so one of them asked if we could not study something a bit more funny now (gai, in French). No
problem, said I. One of the girls said she'd noticed that there was an extract from Philadelphia in
the book and asked whether that was the same as the film. Yes, said I. She was the only one who'd
seen the film and told the others it was really very good.
So they wanted to know what it was about and I said it was about a young homosexual lawyer who had
Aids. This was going on in French as it was really after the bell had rung! I referred to the text
and said: "Il n'est pas vraiment gai". One of the boys said, "Well, what a pun Mrs Petit, if he was
homosexual he must have been a bit gay". They all laughed their heads off and so did I!!
Then I came home, called my daughter and chatted a bit with her. Talked with my husband for a while
and settled down to relax a bit here.
We had an American meal at school today, but it was really very heavy. A salad made of cabbage,
apples and walnuts, turkey ą la bocaner (or something like that) with funny deepfried "potatoes"
(actually mashed potatoes, cut out to 2001), cheese and An American chocolate cake.
Kelly - off to have supper-:) LIGHT!!

I spent the morning at City Hall here in Toronto. All the ex-service clubs, Legions, Naval Club,
Army, Navy Clubs etc. were represented to get the city to waive the property taxes on the various
club facilities. As the older members are dying off, memberships are dropping and the taxes were a
very real burden. We got a 5 yr. exemption from property taxes :-). Perhaps all the local
politicians were intimidated by the gallery being filled with elderly ex-servicemen and women
complete with medals <g>.
Had a few rums at a local club to celebrate the victory, then home.

growing ever larger as it approached.
The sickening crunch as lead shattered bone was the last thing he heard
and his lifeless body crashed to the floor.

An owl hooted it's approval, and then all was still.

Fluffy licked her lips and went downstairs for something to eat.

Any similarity between the characters in this story and real people, alive or
dead, is entirely coincidental and so it's no good suing me. You'll lose.

Graham, this won't work. The Y's have divided their country in a few timezones
so they can keep an eye on us and listen to everything we say ALL THE TIME
!!!!!. We'll never be safe from them. Unless all Europeans would learn to write
in Norsk or Dutch. Finnish might be better.

It is a very thick Pea soup, made for winters days here in Holland. Just
about every housewife has a different way of making it. One thing you must
do is simmer it for hours with a pigs trotter in it. But it is far more
complicated than that. I have my own way and use hot peppers, (another
advantage of being a Bachelor) but I am sure Loes and Coby have there own
very traditional method. I am not going to stick my neck out tonight with
mine. Infact I am going to stick my neck onto a cushion. Goodnight.

Sounds like our Split Pea soup. I'm not too fond of it. I love beef stews and
soups. I sure had an awakening when I met Al. My family eats strictly country
cooking. His was true Italian. His mother was born in Italy. Their fried
eggplant was different then I have ever seen. They would slice is fairly thin,
fry it in olive oil and then put it in a bowl. It would sit there, with the
olive oil covering it. I was aghast at first but learned to really like it. I
had never had calamari either or "skachada" (not sure of the spelling), a meat
pie his mother made that was delicious. I can make the marinara sauce the made.
They call it "Fried Sauce". When I asked them why, because it's definitely not
fried, Al told me it's because his mother always made it in a frying pan.
Al can make his mother's wonderful chicken soup and "Sugo", a wonderful rigatoni
dish made with meat and sausage.
Al sure can cook!

The little guy with the red and black striped shirt is the famous Dennis the
Mennis, the comic has been going since 1948, and most English members of
this group grew up with it. A couple of years ago they changed Dennis's
shirt to this colour (so called modernisation) and there was an almighty
uproar from thousands if not more Dennis fans, (mostly adults), that is how
popular it is.

It's a liquid substance that is supposed to prevent flatulence if you
sprinkle it on foods that normally cause such a thing. I've never tried it,
but I know people who use it.

It is made with split peas.
Leak, celery (that thick root, maybe it's called different) celery-leaf, and pork on
the bone. My mother used ribs, so that's what I do. Many people say it should be so
thick, your spoon could stand up straight in it. I don't like it that way. It is
very filling, and is only nice if it is freezing cold outside.

Exercise (movement) is good for your movement. Actually it takes me a whole
afternoon to make in a hot kitchen so that must be good for my movement. How

What a maroon! Aside from yerself, I can't think of anyone who actually
"enjoys" flatulance. And Beano prevents it, idjit, it doesn't CAUSE it. And,
if I infer correctly, I don't need anything to help me with that; just being
around you would give anyone gas. Now, leave the nice people alone.
