It's 9:57 here right now. Sorry I don't know anything about a new war
series. I'm just watching a movie, that has me hooked.

Right now, New Hampshire. :) Was born in the Catskills, grew up in Buffalo,
NY, lived 22 years in Vermont, 3 years in Florida, back to western NY for 9
years, then here for the past 2 1/2. Just can't settle down. LOL

Van Gogh has a few earlier paintings influenced by a Japanese style...it must
have been the rage once. Enjoy Toddy, and let us know what you think.

It was amazing !!!
Monet's painting have a translucency about them that is
incredible.
As for the Japanese connection, for me it was a bit
esoteric, and had a lot to do with a connection with
nature....there were some absolutely amazing panels and
scrolls, one of the latter depicting a river, and the life
thereon.
Most of the prints and woodblocks that they had were very
stylised, not at all impressionistic like Monet........ it
was fascinating, and we are lucky to have such an exhibition
in such an out of the way place as Perth....the most
isolated capital city in the world.
We were lucky that we went at the beginning of lunch time,
and it wasn't too busy...the waiting time on Sunday was 3
HOURS !!!!.....I wouldn't have seen it ....LOL

I forgot to mention that until the 1850's Japan was closed
to foreigners, and we knew nothing about their culture, but
after that there was a flood of all things Japanese,
including their art, which became 'all the rage' in Europe.
Hence the sudden influence on many artists.

Monet never went to Japan himself.
He lived from 1840-1926.
