On Friday it was 85 degrees, but not too humid. I met with my dissertation

things for them to jump on, mostly.)

At the bank the teller asked me whether anyone had ever told me I looked
like Julia Roberts. I burst out laughing because I'm on record as thinking
she is weird looking, and of course, my crazed hippo grin cemented the
resemblance, if any ... it was nice to hear this compliment, though,
because during my morning shower I forgot I was holding my Hero Chiropedic
lava sponge in my hand and scraped myself along the jawline with it. So
considering that I was dressed like a soccer mom and looked like I had
asphalt rash on my face, I enjoyed being told that I looked like a
movie star.

Not bad for a large aquatic mammal, I must say.

Oh, and last night before bed I put Anya's aloe gel on the rash and this

The studs were from a jewelry store in Pismo Beach, CA that dealt in
all kinds of semi precious stones and designs at reasonable prices. I
also have a faux pair the children bought me and a pair made by
MoonFancy, my Secret Santa. My first citrine studs went by way of the
shower drain and were not recovered. If you find a wholesale jeweler
with loose stones such as those at the metropolitan jewelry marts,
they can make you anything much less than what you will pay retail.

Cloudy, stormy, and 80 today. What a difference a day makes--I was feeling so
awful yesterday morning that not only did I call to let my colleagues know I'd

years the group realized I indeed wasn't feeling well and treated me gently.
I'm thankful to wake up this morning feeling more or less myself.

Well, we gave Shakespeare in Rock Creek Park our best effort last night be we
were barely into Act II when the storms which would could see skirting the area
bore down upon us. I was about to get up and take shelter before we were asked

Freedom concert and right where (one story up) from where the lightning bolt
came down and hit folks without warning (no thunder and the storm was still 15
miles away) so I no longer feel the need to play brave in cases like that), so
that was it for last evening. We'll try again next week.

caramel colored suede thongs from Banana Republic
diamond ear studs, gold watch and rings, pale green jade pendant w/green

black n white gingham fluffy-skirted short dress. it's above my knees,

I like that print but I notice a dearth of the hatbox print
ones. I bought a large hatbox tote in March and haven't seen
a lot of them around. I'd love a few more pieces for

Highs are in the 80s, high humidity, and heavy thunderstorms from time to
time. I am regretting that the air conditioners aren't in the windows
yet. The downstairs and porch are lovely, but my children's bedrooms are
stuffy. Feeling oh-so-Goth and rying to keep cool in:

pale blue Chemise Lacoste tennis shirt
ancient flat front low-rise khakis from Gap
peanut butter-colored BR suede thongs (thanks to The Other Kim for that
evocative description of the color!)

(I bought these in April and am wearing them more than any other
summer sandal. It's practically time to get a new pair--or at least, a few
more pairs of flip flops with cushy bottoms. Sooo much more comfortable
than my Jack Rogers sandals!)

silly periwinkle blue Swatch-style faux chronometer w/rhinestone trim
clear bead and pearl drop earrings with silver wires
hair in ponytail w/blue beaded stretchy ponytail holder
