And that white enamel bracelet with the green leaves on it sounds just like
you. I can really see you wearing something like that. Thanks for sharing!

<<Audrey, I so enjoyed reading your story. I felt like I was there with
you and your daughters! I think you're a fabulous mother to do so many
fun things with your girls.>>
I think Shopping is way overdue to become an Olympic event, and I
nominate Audrey as our first competitor. The problem is going to be
keeping the AF team under a hundred other eligible competitors.

I've mentioned in the past that I've been in training for the Olympics
shopping team. When the time comes, I'll be ready. On the other
hand, my daughters wanted to stay in the room before dinner and have
me teach them how to crochet. I can make that happen here in Fresno.

Thank you so much. I just want to take this opportunity to say it was
so wonderful to meet Dawn and Cheryl after all of these years getting
to know each other on line. I caught up with Dellapina's year in ten
fast minutes. I saw Camille and Wiggli immediately and it was just
like we had left each other a day or two ago instead of a year ago and
the same with you too.
I'll confess before she does but cofarb bought the same skirt as my
youngest child and the same shirt and the older one. These clothes
from Reference are absolutely timeless and ageless and good value. I
just wish I had more time for Elke to do a brow consultation but that
can wait till the next time.

Loved reading all the trade show adventures so far!
Audrey, not only will you nab the gold, but I think you should coach.

Given most men would rather have a tooth pulled than shop, I guess I
qualify for the mens' team. <grin/duck>

I came home to sad news, so I have been avoiding a whole lot the past couple
of days. A friend passed away on Saturday and I miss him. It was expected,
because he had lung cancer, but still like swallowing concrete, because he was
43. He was diagnosed last August.
I bought lots of good stuff. And I want to post about it because it is life
affirming. and bonding.
*** this is very sad to hear Wiggli!! I wish you comfort and understand your
loss. It's so hard to lose a friend..... and that's SO YOUNG!

Wiggli, I'm so very sorry about your friend. I'm sending warm thoughts your
way. -- Beckie
Heather, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Too many here have
recently lost loved ones.
With deepest sympathy,
Audrey
Just like last year, I told myself I would mostly look around, enjoy everyone's
company, watch the demos and not buy much. And just like last year, I ended up
buying a ton of stuff:
Viseart neutral eyeshadow palette - I regretted not getting this last year, so
I headed straight to the Alcone booth this time. I was weirdly fascinated by
this, although it's just a basic palette of 12 creams, beiges, browns, and
grays. Great texture - matte with a satiny feel -and I just really love these
colors. If I were a make-up artist and worked on lots of people this would be
incredibly practical. Since I am not, it is rather indulgent. $80 on the Alcone
site, $48 at the show.
Paint eyeshadows - Clockwork ( shimmery orange) Cleopatra ( creamy, rosy gold)
and Jade ( shimmery apple green)
Blinc set - Kiss Me mascara, Kiss Me eyeliner, eyelash primer and a heated
eyelash curler for $45 Such a deal!
Senna - Liquid Ice (face luminizer to blend with foundations), Gold glitz
powder and 2 glosses - Trance (sheer browned berry with micro glitter) and Lush
( sheer warm red with microglitter). I bought Lush after seeing it on Dawn. I
complimented her gloss and she led me over to the Senna booth and had me try
it. I was hooked! These are great glosses.
Brushes galore - the amazing brush booth had scads of brushes - most of them
were 2 or 3 dollars. Camille went nuts here, by the way.
French eyedrops
Little twizzers - tweezer/scissors for trimming my crazy eyebrows
And I picked up a Naimie's 20% off coupon which I used to go buy a good
hairdryer. Because I needed one.
The best part of the day was, of course, not the bargains, but the good
company. Shopping with fellow alt.fashion folk is the best. "Do we have time to
stop at this great little store?" Of course we do! "Does anyone know anything
about this brand of eyeshadow?" Heck yeah! "Who feels like spending a half hour
studying minute differences between concealer brushes?" Everybody does, c'mon
let's go!
I also really liked the upcoming trends presentation. The Hello Kitty clothes
from Heatherette were seriously adorable. I saw the models walking down the
hall, teetering on their high heels and looking awfully young and rather gawky.
On stage they were all glamour.
And then there was that MAC model who really enjoyed getting his body painted.
That was definitely a guy who loves his job.
wiggli
I saw it at Alcone and thought it was totally cool. Do you like it? I've
wanted to get one for ages. Supposedly the compacts are about $35 if you buy
them in Paris.
When you are up to it, please post about your new items.
Carol
Yes, I love it! It is the perfect neutral palette. If that is the case, this
would be a great thing to have someone pick up for you. If you knew someone
going to Paris, that is. Can anyone report if this is true? Maurey, you out
there? Have you seen the Viseart stuff in Paris?
wiggli
Ooooo, really? May I ask where? Little Tokyo is pretty close to me.
And the Viseart palette is divine! Make a movie buy it for you!
wiggli
For some reason, I always assumed Viseart was a branch of Visiora, but
apparently it isn't.
I bought the Alcone color box about a year ago and love it. I wanted to buy
their lipstick palette, but the fellow behind the counter talked me out of it
and said I'd really be happier with Sephora's lipsticks, which had a better
color selection.
What a great score! Paint Cleopatra eyeshadow is such an amazing color!
Camille was wearing this and I kept commenting on how great it looked. I'm
kicking myself that I didn't pick it up before it sold out.
Wiggli, how do you like your little retractable gold lip brush? I scanned the
Amazing Brush Table 4 times and never spotted it until you pointed it out. The
brushes there were just insanely priced. The mahogany handled sable brush set
I picked up as a gift was something like $35.
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.
