Using a push brush to apply eyeliner

*Use a brush specifically made for this purpose. Two with a straight edge are
Trish #11 and LM Eye Liner; two with an angled edge are Trish #33 (not sure if
this is still available) and MAC #22.
*For dry application, simply pick up color on edge of brush and "draw" a line
above lashes by pushing the brush along, adding more color if needed as you go.
*For wet application (easiest with angled brush), use just enough water to
dampen edge of brush, pick up color from a corner of powder e/s, draw a line in
a couple of strokes. Don't wet more than a bit of the e/s or you won't be able
to use it dry after that.

I have a related question I've been wondering about. (One of those DUH
queries). As another eye liner novice, can you tell us WHEN to apply it?
I'm thinking shadow, liner, curling, mascara...in that order. Comments? It's
elementary my dear, I know, but not to those of us who never used it!

I don't know that there's a "right" order really. I usually put eyeliner
on first, then shadow, then mascara last (I don't use a lash curler).
Past threads on this have revealed a lot of variation in how af-ers put
on their eye makeup. However it works for you is the right order, IMHO.

Don't use water - use spit. Yes, I realize it's a health risk, etc, and
don't do it if you're sick, but saliva works way better than water in
my experience.

I feel so gross for even bringing it up. <grin>
It's less clean, I suppose. stickier? I dunno. Water only lasts a while
for me. Spit? All day.
I may have taken AF far too much too heart.

I normally follow the same order, though lately I've been big on a
smudgier look. I find liner first, smudged slightly, then shadow over
it gives a great look. For even more depth, a very thin application of
a slightly darker liner over that is amazing.

Um, well, I've never tried spit. But I will recommend Paula Dorf's Transformer
if you want to turn powder shadow into indelible liquid liner. Great stuff.
As for order of application, I'm partial to e/s, liner, mascara. But anything
that gives you the look you like is the correct order, I guess.

If it gives me just one extra bout of conjunctivitis in my life it
wouldn't have been worth it no matter how well it works. Maybe there
is another option... is aloe gel eye-safe? Anyone esle got any ideas?

Jules, how do you apply that second line? The same as the first, same
type of brush? Or would this work with pencils?
