Maybe this should go in the "What I Bought Today" thread. :^)

I got a blazer and slacks from TJ Maxx, very suit-like. The
label is one I saw at either Macy's or Nordstrom's, and it's
Gianni Sport.

Is this the Versace off-the-rack label? And where can I
find out retail sources for it?

Any help would be appreciated, since I'd like to find
a second pair of pants and/or a skirt in the same fabric.

TIA,

Sandi

Sandi,

This label has been around for a minimum of ten years and I don't believe it is
related in any way to Versace. They may have perked it up a bit from years
back, but it used to be a bit dull--in other words, not too fashion-forward or
trendy! I know it's sold in Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Rich's, etc. It's at the
low end of the moderately priced sportswear/officewear category. Not as pricey
or well-made as Ellen Tracey or Emanuelle or even Jones NY. More like Liz
Claiborne.

Enjoy your new clothes!

NOpe, there is another label called just Gianni....The only Versace lines I
know of are- Gianni Versace, Istante, V2 classic, jeans couture and versus.

There used to be one called Complice.

The first Gianni piece I bought, I also wondered if it was related to
Versace. Apparently not, but my favorite red holiday suit and absolute
favorite black tuxedo-style blazer are from this line. At the time, it was
the most expensive jacket I had ever purchased on my own - $210!
(Unfortunately, it now doesn't faze me to spend that much on makeup at one
time!)

I agree with what was said before: Gianni is not a Versace label. With regard
to Complice, it is a label that is still produced by the Genny fashion group.
Versace designed for Complice early on in his career (mostly knits, I think).
Complice has also been designed by a number of other well-known desginers over
the years. Hard core Versace collectors are always hitting consignment and used
clothing shops in search of those old Versace-designed Complice pieces. Once
the New York Times profiled a Versace collector who proudly proclaimed that she
owned a wide assortment of Versace Complice pieces.
