Your pain is now through."

When to and not to raise their voices
It's you that decides
Which way will you turn"

Initial reaction to the mini skirt began as early as 1968 when the fast forward
girls started wearing floor length maxis. By 1969 we were seeing maxi lengths in
coats and all over the place. By 1970-71 skirt lengths were all over the lot
mini-midi & maxi. I guarantee you the midi length was extremely popular between
1971 and 1974 particularly in winter because it looked great with high boots.
Beyond that I can't help.

Well, they say a pretty girl is like a melody...
She was a Jung girl who was easily Freudened.
I too find the history of the midiskirt interesting. As I remember, they began
appearing in the late 60's. One influence on their return was how appealing
long skirts looked on Faye Dunaway in "Bonnie and Clyde" in '68.
I remember the big push for the Midi was in 1970. Check out the Vogue
magazines of that era. You will see 100% midi coverage. There was a lot of
opposition to them initially. Women turned to pants mainly. I even remember
seeing pants being worn under mini dresses at the time. I remember clearly on
the evening news one night there was a big anti-midi rally somewhere and they
had a lovely young lady on stage in a midiskirt which they ceremoniously cut
off to mini length with scissors as the crowd roared their approval. And of
course there was the group that formed called GAMS (Girls Against More Skirt).
It almost became a crusade to be against the midi. Kind of like being
"politically correct" today.
Yet, in a few years the midi prevailed. I remember picking up a copy of "W' in
'74 and it was filled with beautiful midis, and they began to catch on and were
worn without a bit of protest. Basically the Midi had a long run - from '74 to
'87 when the mini skirt came back. the mini has been with us now for 13 yrs
and I am glad to see the long lengths return once again. It is time.
