SF/Fantasy book

Wondering if someone could help me out. About 10 years ago I read the
first book of a new series, and there either hasn't been a sequel or I
missed it along the road. The problem is I can't find the original
book to remember the author or title.

The story involved vampires, a man whose face had been horribly burned
as a child but was some kind of mage, a woman who had been in one of
the ruling families of a city but sold into prostitution when the city
fell to invaders, a man who had been saved from death but the process
created an evil clone of him. I can't remember much more about it
unfortunately.
