What what bitter old man he was.
Well Happy Thanksgiving anyway
Wish it wasn't so true.

Hey, Todd--you're still around? I still enjoy the CD you sent me. It's
a goodie!
The poster formerly known as LL ;}
I don't celebrate holidays like Columbus Day and Thanksgiving
that glorify genocide against Native Americans. Even Easter
and Christmas promote spiritual genocide.
Yeah, I just don't post as much political activist stuff as I
used to. I spend more time on artistic sites these days.
> I still enjoy the CD you sent me. It's a goodie!
I'm working on a new one now entitled "Iron Alphabet".
> The poster formerly known as LL ;}-
Great to hear from you as always, LL!!
Methinks thou art paranoid.
Ther is nothing about any of those that Celebrates genocide except to those
who are a bit troubled
No, I'm well-informed on the issues involved.
But to attempt to make the discussion an ad hominem
attack against me (whom, to the best of my knowledge,
you've never even encountered previously) is an
obvious attempt to avoid discussing the actual topic of
the bias present in many Eurocentric holidays.

People should be troubled by genocide.

So how long have had these feeling that every one is against you. Whatr
happened in the 19th century to Native American was wrong especially in the
light of our era But it has nothing to do with any of the holidays which
you mentioned. Thanksgiving in some of it's traditions actually honors
native Americans have you ever heard of Tisquantum (better known as
Squanto)? As to Christmas Easter They have NOTHING whatsoever to do with
your ravings about genocide. The real genocide was perpetrated by greedy
men who wanted ALL of the land for their exploitation Columbus was actually
the first European to see the Islands of the crribean and had nothing to do
with the actions of those who came later.

> People should be troubled by genocide.
You seem to want to blame those alive today for the sins of their
anscestors and that sounds rather paranoid to
It has plenty to do with them, and it did not occur only
in the nineteenth century but began in the fifteenth
century and is still continuing in the twenty-first
century. Genocide is not only physical but is also
cultural and spiritual.
> Thanksgiving in some of it's (sic) traditions actually
> honors native Americans...
That's the big lie that is promoted in the commercial
media.
> have (sic) you ever heard of Tisquantum (better

He and his people, too, were the victims of genocide.

Christmas and Easter unfairly coerce indigenous
peoples to abandon their traditional faiths and convert
to racist Christian domination.
> The real genocide was perpetrated by greedy men
> who wanted ALL of the land for their exploitation.
That, too, was part of it, but it's far from the whole story.
The Christian churches kidnapped native children by
the thousands and imprisoned them in in boarding
schools where they were severely abused. Native
women were forcibly sterilized by government
sponsored health services.
> Columbus was actually the first European to see the

In the course of four voyages, Columbus and his thugs
enslaved, raped, and murdered whole indigenous
populations to the point that the Caribbean Islands
were practically barren of their original inhabitants.
I suggest that you read "American Holocaust: The
Conquest Of The New World" by noted historian
David Stannard.

> You seem to want to blame those alive today for the

Many alive today are still contributing to the suffering
of Native Americans. And actual physical genocide is
still occuring throughout Latin America.

And please stop deleting alt.native from the discusssion
as that is where this topic is most relevant.
I never used the phrase "white man" (an inaccurate
and cliched term that I don't believe in), and I don't
hate anyone because of the color of his or her skin.
I despise certain individuals (of any ethnicity) only
for the specific actions he or she has committed.
It has nothing to do with a person's race. It's about the
preservation of traditional Native American cultures
against Eurocentric domination.
> ... why are you using the white man's inventiion (sic)
> the internet...
The internet is the multicultural culmination of the
combined contributions of many diverse developers.
If you take it back far enough, the Maya were the
ones who made digital technology possible by
being the first culture to use the number zero.
Even Al Gore has Tsalagi (Cherokee) ancestry. ;)
> ... to spread your paranoid beliefs that everyone is
> out to get you.
I have no such beliefs.
> You need some good therapy...
Personal attacks (cliched or otherwise) are the last
refuge when a person has no ability to maintain an
intellectual discussion.
> ... as it seems you have a lot of interanl (sic) issues.
You mean little things like believing in restorative justice
and not wanting Native American cultures to vanish from
the face of the earth?
> You seem to still be fighting a war that ended over 125
> years ago.
It is common for dominant culture historians to claim
that the "Indian Wars" ended in 1890 with the first battle
of Wounded Knee, but just like the Civil War did not
end discrimination against African Americans and their
civil rights struggle has continued for well over a century,
so too has the civil rights struggle continued for Native
Americans throughout all of North and South America.
