Hey, it worked! Shannon Baksa is being flown to Los Angeles December 1-3
to be interviewed by the Baywatch producers. She is ecstatic, as well
can be imagined.

Shannon asked me to pass on her most sincere thanks to everyone who
voted, and BIGGGGGGGG HUGGGGSSSSSSSSS! I'll keep you posted on what I
learn about her adventure in Hollyweird.

No, I mean, have your friends run into Shannon, and since she is
Mara...You'd have a lot of 'splaining to do as to why five people
think she's the REAL Mara Jade. Or, she could be in on the whole "Star
Wars" real purpose. You would just give her a cameo.

Never underestimate the power of science fiction fandom, and what
we can do for those we like. I'll be audacious here and speak for
AFW, but I don't think anyone would mind--can you pass her our
collective congratulations as AFW, and wishes of best of luck?

(In a related vein, last night in Darkover Con, the fans donated
$3000 to a children's hospital in DC just to hear the Big Concert
Band of Darkover, named Clam Chowder, do a rowdy song. They do that
every year, and the money has gone up every year.)
