Hello, Hola, Bonjour, Bonjourno, Ni Hao, Lay Ho, Konnichiwa, An-young.

Wherever in this ball of rock your from i send you greetings. Some of
you may know me others of you won't. I don't care I just want to know
what has happened to AFW? When do you talk about Wedge and the Rogues
and Wraiths? Where has the magic gone? Everything I liked about this
forum has dissappeared and has been swallowed up by something far worse
than the YV.

I miss discussions about the books and characters. There's none of
that now. I don't want to say this and don't feel I have the right
because I spent many hours hear having fun with my fellow darth and
others. What I'm saying though, I feel has to be said. There are very
intelligent people who post hear and the way we can dissect a book and
analyse it would have English Professors spitting with envy. I know
becuase I'm doing an English Degree myself.

A lot of people have gone and new ones have come, but one thing I have
noticed is that over the last few months we haven't had many new
members joining. Last year there was an average of around three a
week. It has pained me, what has happened because I used to really
love this site as a way to escape reality for a while.

I know that the questions to ask have been asked and the books to read
have been read, but there is so much more out there. Wedge's days with
the early alliance for example, Janson before he joined the rebellion (
we know he's very profficient with arms...why? ) I tried to write that
story and got quite far with the plot etc, but in the end university
worked piled on top of me and I couldn't finish it.

I'm not trying to be mean and/or disagreeable, but it is something I
must ask. I'm sorry if I offend any of you. This post is not a flame,
but a question that we all need to look at and analyse. I'm sorry for
saying what I have said, but I feel that it is imperative that I've
said these things.

Sorry.

DBG.

Welcome back, DBG. It's been a while!

As for wanting discussions that are "on-topic": all you have to do is
start one.

As for the rest, you might have noticed that we've been working on a
massive story--I'd call that on-topic. The rest is discussion among
friends, which is what AFW is here for.

Sounds kinda like what my university's news server did to me while I was
gone for the holidays. :-) Annoying, ain't it??

Welcome back, Keith. We did run a new casting poll, of which I'll be
starting the final version momentarily. And I'm sure there's been some
other stuff. But yes, Boussh has been rather active. Which I don't
necessarily consider to be a bad thing.

No, an active Project Boussh isn't a bad thing. I think what they're both
saying, though, is that we do Boussh to the exclusion of the other things we
used to do. And as much fun as Boussh is for those of us involved, even
peripherally, it's not something that people outside Terra Group are really
getting into for the most part. It wouldn't hurt us to try to also have some
more inclusive discussions. I was trying that with the Rogue Planet/NJO
discussion but it's not really taking off.

Just food for thought...

I certainly won't argue. I didn't mean to make Project Boussh into an
overpowering presence on the newsgroup. It's just an extention of
group fanfic, fanfic challenges, and the hunger for stories about the
boys, girls, androgenous, and multipeople in orange.

And, be this good news or bad, I do have plans for after Boussh ends.
In fact, I started drawing up those plans when Boussh took off like it
did.

I don't expect it to cater to my whims, I just don't want it to be so
exclusive among certain people that will make newbies not want to join.

Your writing boussh, great. the only problem with that is it's
extremely hard to get into if you've been gone for a while, and then
after Boussh it's Bossk and the same situation will arise again.

You know, all this talk about the popularity (or virulence, as some
might say) of Prject Boussh got me to thinking. Maybe we should add a
PB/Terra Group rating to the AFW Geek Code. Here's what I would suggest:

TG+++: I am Scifantasy, originator and ringleader of all things Terran
TG++: I am a TG writer, and I have characters assigned to me
TG+: I've read ever chapter and pray each evening for more.
TG: I've read some of it and it's mildly amusing
TG-: It was cool at first, but it's time for it to be over
TG--: Darn thing is taking up WAY too much space on AFW
TG---: Die, Boussh, Die!

I know we don't use Geek Codes much anymore, but hey, I thought it was
a cool idea.

-Josh
Also thought of suggesting a Russell Crowe code, but
thought it best not to get Kristy started again. :-)

the questionnaires...

To be honest I didn't even *notice* Boussh had started until a dozen

Admittedly now it's a little different, yeah.

What website? where? That's my point. Why doesn't someone who is
involved write an overview or plot summary that people who aren't
involved as of yet can get into. that would help a lot. If I knew what
was going on without having to read any boussh post there's ever been
( frankly i don't have the time or i would have ). Then people who
aren't involved like myself can get into it and even add stuff of their
own. It feels like it, but i'm sure i'm not alone with this whole
boussh thing, i think there are other people who feel the same as i
do. But if there aren't i'll humbly resign my commision and leave you
all to it and wish you all the best of luck.

Well, the full Project Boussh website is not yet open to the public as it's
still under development. Past stories are archived on the AFW site
(http://www.rebelpilots.com/afw/boussh.html).

As for plot summaries and overviews, I'm doing a whole bunch of things to
prepare for the opening, and that's one of them.

I think I'm missing something about your central complaint, however. I don't
think that Boussh is clogging the newsgroup (and I probably spend more time
dealing with the Boussh posts than anyone), and from what I can tell a vast
majority of AFWers are in favor of the project. Every once in a while I see a
new post asking about the Project, which I take as interest, which translates
into encouragement.

And, if you do feel the project is clogging the newsgroup...

New Message Filter for "alt.fan.wedge":
Condition: subject contains "Boush"
Action: mark as read (or ignore thread)

Note: "Boush" should pick up all variants of the [Project Boushh]
subject tag.

A quickfire summary however:

Quiara went missing just before the presidential elections. Foul play
was suspected. Despite Wedge having turned down the opportunity to run
for President, he felt some responsibility for her well-being and was
able to garner NR support for a mission to Terra. Various Rogues &
Wraiths arrived and teamed up with various AFW'ers. Current situation is
staging at a New Hampshire cabin, preparatory to heading to a place
called Mendellia, whose leader is currently holding Quiara (among
others) and is in league with Imperials.

Everything else is details (sort of).

Cheers,
Nick.

My post was in part to ask about the project, i have no idea what is
going on every time i try to see what people are talking about and it
does discourage me because i enjoy taking an active part in discussions
like now. I'm not asking the NG to cater to my whims as some guy put

I haven't noticed any decline in newbies recently....and we aren't doing
just exclusively Boussh, by any stretch of the imagination.

you have but to ask. There's an archive on AFW Central that's kept fairly
current, and another on Rent-A-Rogue.

A note, BTW...Writing the Plourr backstory might just be
confusing...If you wanna be on the _Admonitor_, fine, but maybe as a

This isn't an order, but good advice--drop your backstory thing. It's

I'm sorry, so Boussh is accesible to a certain caliber of people is
it? My post was about its inaccessiblity, I found a way to access it
and I'm told "too many cooks?" That makes perfect sense. That makes
my point for me. I'm not alone in my opinion as you may have seen I
have a fellow sith lord to back me up.

You DO NOT want to incur the wrath of the SITH. Trust me. I know
where you live and I've seen where you sleep.

So why can't I write? Too many cooks? That's the stupidest thing i've
heard. I said that people just coming back or joining AFW can't get
into Boussh. You said it's not the case at all. You said "all you
have to do is ask". I asked, I found out, I started to get into it.
I'm told "too many cooks."

You seem to think that this isn't smothering the NG-your so wrong I
wish I could take a Hydrospanner and beat sense into you. This isn't
about me *it may seem like it* this is about the NG. You have missed
the point. This is novel length. It's not going to be published. You
say it's good for the NG and in someways it is, but, it's shutting
people out. You all dissagree and I'm sorry if i've hurt your egos.

I've been here for nearly two years. I've enjoyed my time here. I
don't want to do this, but I have to because you've made a blind jump
that could lead to your demise.

What is the point of having a NG that has "A friendly atmoshpere, and
is welcoming"-self promoted i think. I ask about something and say
what I feel and i'm met with hostiliy and refused a way to take part in
something that the *WHOLE NG* can be involved with? What is the point.

Scifantasy-if that's your real name-are you an elected leader of this
group or self elected? Wait-don't answer I already know what it will
be.

I'm really angry about this, it's just not cricket. It unfair and
Imperialistic. "You can't reduce sapient beings to numbers and
exchange them like credits"-Ton Phanan. I think this is very true.

I don't like flaming, it's just not be, but i'm so angry and others are
too. I'm trying so hard not to swear i'm biting my tongue.

*We* need to reevaluate our lives? That's rich. You know Darth, when you
first posted I was strongly on your side...tried to get some of the others
to start other conversations for the sake of the group. But this petty and
silly ranting is just too much. I guess you're too blind to notice that
non-Boussh posts have gone up astronomically in the last week. No one
controls the newsgroup. If you want to talk about something else, talk. As

conversations for you to participate in. But keep your childish threats to

I have the perspective. They weren't threats. Do you think i would

holiday from uni and I find nothing but Boussh posts. I wait to see if
it dies down, but i doesn't. I decide to ask about it. People
disagree, people agree. It doesn't matter. But, being told I can;t
take part in something every body does hurts. It makes me and maybe
others feel that we aren't part of the group.
I'm not being a spoilt child. I'm trying to be an active member of
this NG.

OK, now this is getting out of hand...

I'd like to add something here.

Personally I like Boushh. I look forward to reading the stories.

On Sci's side... I understand why he wants to keep any new cooks out of the
kitchen. I posted a piece with a tag on it... Take it or leave it. It was
left. No hard feelings. I had some positive feedback on the piece and was told
to try to work it out on its own. That project is on the back burner, but its a
good idea. Maybe I can even tie it in with one of the other stories I'm working
on.

On DBG's side... As some other people have pointed out... Boushh is taking a
lot longer than people thought. And it is getting pretty big. Personally, I
don't mind. But that's just me.

Definitely. He's not hypocrite enough to substitute it with something
slightly different just for other hypocrites sake.
