Hi there,
Spring is in the air. Or something. Anyway.
Allax is around, but I didn't see any recent fanfic challenges--so
I want to pose one, if it's OK with the higher-ups in our (very
dynamic) hierarchy :-).
Here are the guidelines, as they are:
********************
FANFIC CHALLENGE #4, or 5, I don't remember--
Write a story involving Rebel pilots having to work closely with
Imperial pilots--but not in a Truce in Bakura context or a New Jedi
Order context. If you want to make it interesting, try to do it in
the original trilogy timeline when there was even more bitter
alienation between them.
It should contain the line "Those whose duty it is to watch are
watching," in context and adding to the story flow/meaning.
It should contain the line "Some things are not as important as
death, mayhem and eternal chaos." in context and adding to the
story flow/meaning.
One of the characters should be younger than 12.
It should have a small poem/song/whatever (could be as little as
two lines) mentioned somewhere, either recited or thought of by a
character.
***********************
Suggestions: Since this is a challenge I initiated, I can suggest
some do nots, I guess--although you are free not to follow these.
You might want to leave Earth out of it, for example, and do it in
good old GFFA :-). You might also try to make it fit the canon
storyline, instead of an alternate-history story. Everyone's MMV.
I'll also post these guidelines in a webpage and post the URL
later this week...
Have fun,

No problems here.
::snippy::
Yipes, a lot of requirements on that one! But cool sounding. Go for it,
people!

Well, Ambassador, what *do* you want? It's impolite to just tell me "They
aren't for you," and walk off...
Yep, there are. Guess that just makes it...um...challenging, though. :-)
Hm...
Have we a deadline for this?

having finally finished the last paper of the semester, it seems a good time
for fanfic-writing...
It was Wed, 25 Apr 2001... Andrew spoke words of wisdom:

Hey, that's encouraging for me :-).
Someone asked if there was a deadline--I don't remember any
deadlines for the previous challenges, so, no. Post the stories in
the NG; I'll ask for permission to save them. And I think I'll
contact the rp.com people to publish them on the website, if they'll
be amenable...

On your way back, I'd like for you to repeat the "Life with Sarah" mantra:
Sarah is always right. I will listen to Sarah. I will not ignore Sarah's
recommendations. Sarah is God. And, if this ever happens again, Sarah will
personally rip your lungs out!
"It's like I've always said. You can get more with a kind word and a two by
four than you can with just a kind word."
NOTE TO SELF: Non-flammable is not a challenge.

Rule #7: Randomly pulling out cables from the back of your computer will NOT
make it work.
Well, I was going to post it on the AFW site, but since that's a whole
different issue....here's a repost of Morwen's cool idea. With my
senioritis, who knows when I'll get anything productive (like website
updates) done!

You know, I could probably write this as a Terra Group short. I won't
(probably), but it could be done.

I hate to bring up a sore subject, PK, but AFW doesn't have a site anymore.
:-(
::sniff sniff:: I want RPC back. I miss the cartoons. :(

I know that, Josh. Did you read the rest of that sentence? Never fear,
it'll be back.

Are you sure about that line? Is that exactly how you want it?
-Vickie
not a single idea as of yet.

Will have to be quick answer, since I'm hugely busy..

Actually, yes. I will admit to having no idea about how to use
this outside a humorous context (which is, still, context after
all)--but that's why it's a challenge; stretch your writing muscles
by coming up with a context to this.
I'll also admit humour possibilities are very attractive <giggle>.
<hugs to all>

Good luck; as a side note, this is not a competition per se but
rather a "everyone come up with something!" call.
