Hi,
I'm new to this NG, but not to Tom Robbins. I'm rereading Skinny Legs and
All and can just kick myself for missing the AOL chat sometime last week. I
would have liked that.
If there are any more upcoming chats, please post 'em here--I'm in!

I'm not sure, but I would have to say that my two favorites are Skinny Legs
and All and Jitterbug Perfume. My mom says that Another Roadside Attraction is
her favorite. Any thoughts?

I'm new to this also--are such chat sessions for aol users only, or are they
open to the web surfing public? URL?

Well, I'm a newbie here, but I guess I'll jump in and be one of the first to
respond to this. I'd say my favorites are a tie between Jitterbug Perfume
and Still Life with Woodpecker. Those two books probably had more impact on
me than the rest that I have read; Still Life because it was my first
exposure to TR, and it was a whole new way of looking at the world, and JP
because it's so thought-provoking. Still Life really marked a departure for
me in the way I looked at the world when I was a sophomore in college, so
that one will always have particular significance for me.

For the TR gurus on this list, I'm wondering where they rate Half Asleep in
Frog Pajamas. That's the only one I've not read yet...

Hi, eric, and welcome. I'll respond although I'm emphatically NOT a TR guru or
any
other kind of guru. I'd rate HAIFP last among Tom's books, which still puts it
fairly
high among books in general. There's a kind of weariness and cynicism that is
sad.
Skinny Legs & All is my top choice, although I love the earlier ones for their
sweetness
(ARA, Cowgirls, Woodpecker)

Is "TR guru" an oxymoron?
