I am sorry if I give the wrong reference, but in Letters JRRT answers to a
similar question. I think he wrote that it is not completely wrong to
imagine the Nazgul riding on a creature like a Pterodaktylus (flying
Dinosaur). Maybe I should have wait with this answer till I have read the
passage.
