I have read that Galadriel, daughter of Finarfin married Celeborn and had a
child. I can not for the life of me find the name of that child. Can anyone
help?
Ed
Sure can. Celeborn and Galadriels only child was a girl named Celebrían. She
later wedded Elrond Peredhil and bore him Arwen Evenstar.

Celebrian, Elrond's wife.
Celebrian, wife of Elrond, mother of Arwen (and Elladan and Elrohir).
Depending on the source you read, G & C are also the parents of Amroth.

Good lord, do you mean that Galadrial was Aragorns prospective
grand-mother in law?

"It was not always like this, of course. On occasion it's been worse."

Yes. Not only that, but Arwen and Aragorn actually plighted their troth in
Lórien.

Had her mother's looks and her father's brains...
...or was it the other way around?
Morgil
so this may make his relationship to Galadriel almost as complicated as
Frodo's to Bilbo's :) .

then elrond has his hissy fit
can you imagine the conversation between elrond and his mother in law
- now elrond let the young people have their way
- but mommy
- did i say anything when celebrian brought home this half elven upstart
Celebrían, who later married Elrond (Hugo Weaving, in the movie). They had
a daughter named Arwen (portrayed in the movie by Liv Tyler), who later
married Aragon( Viggo Mortensen).
Well, Elrond and Elros got to choose what race they would belong too.
Elrond chose to be an elf, while Elros chose to be man, but was granted a
500 year lifespan so he was a bit "special".

The point is made (somewhere) that Elros was *physically* able to
live as long as Elrond; there was no physical necessity that he die.
However, the basic characteristic of humans (at least in Tolkien's
world) is that they grow tired of Middle-earth and desire to go
elsewhere. So Elros voluntarily *chooses* to die and leave "the
Circles of the World"; 500 doubtless seemed like a good round number to
him. :)
DS
That might have been true in Elros's case, but not in the case of Men in
general. Most of the kings after Tar-Atanamir, far from being tired of the
world and willing to die, had to be carried out kicking and screaming.
So now Celeborn and Galadriel are Aragorn's grandparents as well. How would
you like to have grandparents over 3 thousand years old? Or a spouse over
1500 years old? It would be hard to tell them anything or teach them
anything new, eh? "been there, done that, etc."

Although I thought something was going to come out of Galadriel in that
nutty temptation scene. Looked like she was possessed with the alien dude
in Stargate.

Maybe, but the Elves call Men "Inscrutables", because they're always doing
unexpected things. ;)
