and....? It sounded to me like yet another bit of uninspiring padding to
get R4 through another yawning morning. You can see them round the
'brainstorming' table desperately trying to fill in the gaps. Fortunately
this year thay have endless endless stuff about partition of India, which
means they can bore on with a lot of worthy stuff and get the ethnic
minority broadcaster quota up at the same time.

If you missed it, or live somewhere that BBC Radio 4 isn't on the
radio, it's still available for a few more days to "listen again" over
the internet see:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/pip/6ybhc/?focuswin

Personally I found the presentation a bit too whimsical with too many
uncredited soundbites, but there were nuggets of interesting
information and interview clips from LC's family and even one
"recently discovered" of the man himself (actually it may have made a
more interesting programme for Saint fans just to broadcast the whole
of the interviews, but I suppose the average listener has to be taken
into account!).

Also, right at the end, Roger Moore said that his son is one of the
producers of a new television series "on the horizon" that "harks back
to the more hard-edged Saint of the early books" - we can only hope!

The interview with Leslie--the whole thing--was only a few minutes
long and, well, crap. Believe me, they used the best of it in the
show. They could have broadcast the other interviews in full but
speaking for myself, that would have taken over 90mins, and it was a
struggle to get the Beeb to give us just 30 mins.
