I was surprised to learn today that Matthew Garber who played Michael
Banks in the motion picture "Mary Poppins" passed away at the age of
21 in 1977.

I've been reading about the new musical from the film now playing in
London as well as an article today about the release of a special DVD
from the film to mark the 40th anniversary of the movie. In the
article it mentioned Matthew's passing.

I had no idea.

Here is a website that mentions his death that I found online:

Wow. Really weird to read all of this about "Michael Banks" just hours after
having watched the DVD my sister got for Christmas.

Just now, my sister was watching the DVD again with the "Pop-Ups" feature. I
just went in to ask her if the DVD Pop-Ups mentioned anything about his death
but looks like she fell asleeep with it still playing.
-lol-

Being a "Disney" release kids watch, they might tend to stray from the cast's
death side of the film's trivia to keep the enjoyment of the movie on a rather
happier note.

I remember watching Fox News Channel one morning and was surprised to find
out that Peter Ostrum from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory turned out
to be a veterinarian, and "Mike Teevee" turned out to be a financial
consultant....and bald. :-) Still has the same face, though. :-)

What about William Dix (Doctor Doolitle)?

I also recollect that Jeremy Licht (Hogan Family) had also become a
financial planner/broker.

That's too bad. He would have made a great model. :-)
