He's done a few things, including a student movie that showed up about
a year and a half ago online. Unfortunately the link that led to that
movie seems to be broken. I remember watching this and Joseph was
immediately recognizable even though it had been quite a few years
since we saw him in "Simon Birch." He also had a small role in an
episode of CSI earlier this year, and starred in a movie called "Wooly
Boys" that didn't get very far in theatres. Right now his time seems
to be taken up by his studies at University of Southern California.

If you're looking him up, note that his name has two z's as in Mazzello.

Also that Simon Birch was in 1998, not 1989. :)

The last thing I saw him in was a guest appearance on "Providence" in what I
think was their last show in December 2002.

Some people find that college takes full-time attention. Others try to
hold a job, or party every night, or play video games constantly...and
get less out of college.

Joseph Mazzello is very talented and I think one of the reasons for his
success is that he always picked very good roles to act in. The two went
hand in hand. Sometimes a movie fails because the acting doesn't live up
to the writing or the writing doesn't live up to the acting. When the
two co-exist hand in hand than you have a gem. Part of the reason Joseph
is so likeable is because he has both the smarts and the talent to marry
both key ingredients into almost everything he does.

With Joseph this case was usually that his work was always better than
others because of his agents and personal decisions to lend his
brilliant talent to better projects. He always involves himself with
quality roles and even a few lesser projects were made better because of
what he did with his talents for those films.

I always thought that he would be one of the few teen idols to make the
transition from child actor to adult actor. I'm not saying "star"
because it's very hard to stay that popular over a long period of time.
I also don't think that Joseph Mazzello was ever compared to a celebrity
like JTT, Ricky Schroeder or Haley Joel Osment, who were known by
millions and I don't think the average person knows his name. I'm sure
many people would recognize him but his name isn't recognized like
Macauley Culkin or Elijah Wood. However, he's one of the best among
those in his age category and I think he can continue to have a career
into his adulthood if he wants.

Unless he has a real breakthough role or movie that becomes a Hollywood
Blockbuster ... Joseph Mazzello will not get the name recognition he
deserves but will probably always be employable and cast because of the
great actor he is. He certainly is one of my favorites and I wish he
would be seen more now. Over the next few years there will either be
more work resumed by him or he will move on to something else, perhaps
behind the scenes or into a different field altogether. Whatever he
does, I wish him luck and will always remember the films I've enjoyed
watching him in, especially one of my favorite movies of all time which
is "The Cure".

One thing I like about IMDb is that if you can not spell the name of
an actor you can look up the name of any movie he/she was in and then
click on their name in the cast list. There have been times when I
could not remember or could spell the name of an actor I wanted to
look up but I remembered that they were in a movie with another actor
that I remembered the name of, so I looked up the name of the other
actor, found their name and clicked on it.

Sometimes when I play with my cat I get him to go around in a circle really
fast until he gets so dizzy that he can't stand up anymore. Then I get him
to go around in the opposite direction. I call it winding the cat. I think
I wind him too much because the clock in his stomach runs fast.

20??? Jesus tap-dancing Christ, it only seems like yesterday he was
floating down the river on a raft with Brad Renfro... Time passes way
too quick!
