August cable movies

This schedule is so skimpy that I suspect TV Guide Ultimate Cable is
lying to me. They say their index "provides a complete listing of all
movies airing on each pay channel in the coming month," but I can't
see how this thin listing will sustain the channels for all of August.
Check back later, maybe we'll have a supplementary list.
Note that unlike the daily listings, these go from 6AM to 5:59AM
(Eastern) because that is the way my TV Guide Ultimate Cable does it.
In other words, if the date here is August 4th and it's on at 3:20AM,
your VCR will think of it as August 5th. So double-check those
listings! Also, there's no plotline in the monthly listings, I'm
going by memory and occasional IMDb lookups, so I might be missing or
misleading on a few titles.
Here's what we have so far...
HBO subscribers will enjoy the return of "Small Soldiers," on August
2, also 12, 21, 24, 27, and 30. They'll also show "The Making of
'Small Soldiers'" on August 4, 11, 16, 18, and 30.
Also on HBO in August:
Can't Hardly Wait, 2, 12, 15, 20
'N Sync: Live From Madison Square Garden, 5, 8, 13
The Sopranos, 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30
On Showtime, you'll get another chance to see some much talked-about
films, including "My Life As a Dog," with subtitles, on August 4, 9,
13, and 22.
Also on Showtime in August:
Big and Hairy, 2, 5, 10, 18
The Climb, 3, 9, 13, 22, 25, 28
14 Up In America, 2, 7, 15, 24
The Invisible Kid, 2, 7, 20, 31
The Kid With X-Ray Eyes, 4, 13, 24, 29
On the Independent Film Channel, the acclaimed movie "Kolya" debuts on
August 3, also 13, 14, 27, and 28.
If you get Starz, your highlight looks like about a minute's worth of
Eli Marienthal as their first run of "American Pie" continues, on
August 6, 10, 18, and 22.
Also on Starz in August:
American History X, 4, 10, 15, 23, 28
Pleasantville, 4, 14, 19, 24
Two Cinemax films feature excellent performances from their cast of
young actors. "The Deep End of the Ocean" is shown on August 9, 19,
25, and 31. "Searching For Bobby Fischer" runs on August 3, 11, 20,
and 30.
Encore gives its viewers their first viewing of "A Pig's Tale" on
August 3, 13, and 22. Also on Encore in August:
The Little Rascals, 3, 13, 23
This Boy's Life, 2, 15
The Zoo Gang, 4, 9, 17
And if you get The Movie Channel, the best thing on the schedule,
believe it or not, is "The Right Connections," a cute enough movie
about a family of aspiring rapsters, but hardly a lead item for the
month. That's on August 4, 8, 13, and 21.

Splitsville, 3, 30
The Truman Show, 2, 14, 26, 31
As I look through this list, I see that every movie I've listed has a
debut date of this week. This really makes me think we'll be back
with an update later on. Til then, keep your video store membership
active!

I have a sneaky suspicion that all the cable networks read AFTI in
August of last year, realized how VERY important the Little League
World Series is to us, and backed off programming anything that would
distract us from that. :-)
