I don't agree that Disney/Home Improvement alone made JTT. JTT's talent made
him much more popular that either of his HI siblings. ABC/Disney certainly
profited handsomely from JTT's appeal and fame.

More and more people are feeling that way Marcus. Home Improvement did make
Jonathan what he is today, that is a fact. And whether it was he or his
advisors, it was a very poor decision to turn his back on the show as harsh as
he did. It showed little or no respect for the show or cast that brought him to
his current teen stardom.

I finally got around to reading the article today and I had the same
impression--lots of egos. I guess I never guessed that there was so much petty
jealousy between most of the cast, especially Richard Karn (who comes off in
the article as whiny) and Patricia Richardson (who comes off as a prima donna).
It's funny, I never cared much for ZTB, but I was very saddened by the
article's description of his depressed mood and his "humorous" comment about
turning to alcohol. And it's pathetic that Taran got about two seconds worth
of coverage in the article. It was almost as if they were saying, "Oh, well.
He's only returning to life at public high school. No use wasting print on
him."
I can't speak for the TV show, but in the Teen People Magazine article
on which the show was based, no he wasn't. JTT is apparently too
young to be considered for a list of teens, according to Teen People's
warped thinking. (See my Friday 5/21 TV Report for more details.)
