It said he was asked to provide the voice because he sounded exactly
like Daniel and that his voice would also appear on the Nintendo and
Playstation games.
But a Warner Bros spokeswoman says the report is untrue and Daniel
Radcliffe voiced his part himself through the whole film.

It will be interesting when seeing the film, to see which report is actually
true.
(~If we can remember to listen with all the film's excitement. LOL!~)
If Harry's voice is deeper toward the end, -or- if it stays high pitched.
If it is the latter---then evidently the spokes people for Warner Brothers said
that to avoid negative publicity on the film---although the producers stated
when filming earlier in the year that if this incident occurred, they had
several back-up plans.
There is one thing slightly confusing.
The Sun reports that the boy was chosen to dub Daniel's lines after Dan's voice
broke & that the boy was only there one day.
However, it also states that he was in the actual film as one of the students
(when they begin flying on the broom at school---???).
So after Dan's voice broke, he filmed scenes for the movie, dubbed all of the
rest of Dan's remaining lines, and did the Playstation games dubs---all in one
single solitary day ????
WOW, that's impressive for all in a days work.

Given that the voices of the boys on Malcolm In The Middle have been
electronically "tweaked" to ensure a constant pitch while their voices were
going through the process of changing, it would seem completely unneccesary to
bring in another actor to dub Daniel's lines. Surely it would be much easier -
as it would ensure that the voice sounded right rather than getting someone
else to try and match his voice - just to electronically tweak his voice if it
was a problem...
(It would also save on salaries, as you'd only be paying one actor for the ADR
rather than two, and the sound engineers would be their anyway in either case).

Did they film it in order? That would be unusual.

Our newspaper this morning said that the boy dubbed only two scenes. Yes, it
would be unusual for them to be 'the last scenes'. Most movies are filmed
completely out of order and are filmed to maximize sets' shots, people's
schedules, etc. That's why they love seeing the finished product just as much
as we do - they aren't quite sure how it will all fit together while they are
filming it.
Here's a little more.
The boy who overdubbed for Daniel was Joe Sowerbutts who isn't either
unknown or "just a schoolfriend of Daniel"s as the papers have claimed. He's
an actor who has appeared in TV when he played "Miles"
in last Christmas's version of "Turn of the Screw" and very good he was too.
(I think I posted capture to pic-t-i then but can repost if people want.)
Interesting Joe is 13 going on fourteen and therefore older than Dan so
you know he's going to get teased about that.
As I understand it Dan - as he is usually called now - is still making
the second movie in which, I believe Master Potter is a year older anyway.
The reason Joe did some of the other voice work however, hasn't anything
to do with Dan's voice but the child labour laws which state someone under
13 can only work for so many days a year. This doubles after that age and is
removed at 16. Naturally, Warners' want Dan to spend all his time on the
films.
And that's it. I've finished showing off now
