Was this the movie where Devon's character received several

beatings from his new stepfather? His stepfather was trying to

instill "proper" values in him. His stepfather also had a couple

of daughters of his own, but they were spoiled.

If I'm correct, I wasn't familiar with Devon when I saw it and

I never made the connection.

No, Ryan meant Jonathan Jackson, referring to his TV Movie "The Legend of

I am sitting here watching Devon's new movie on FamTV and enjoying it
immensely. Noticed that Devon's voice is finally catching up with his age
and thinking that he reminds me an awful lot of Corey Haim. Not only the
voice but even his mannerisms, such as his little smirk.
Of course I loved that about Corey and it seems to work for Devon. I just
hope that Devon doesn't wind up doing made-for-video movies.
And any speculations as to what happened to his sexy hoop earring that he
was wearing during the race and is missing once he gets home.

I saw it also in a few later scenes. I wonder if the sometimes-here
earring was a continuity error, or if it was just invisible from
certain angles.

To be honest with you, I hadn't expected much from Devon, based upon
his previous work. I mean, before NOTT, his total onscreen time (at
least in the USA) was around an hour. Devon had always done well on the
big screen and his appearance in "Lonesome Dove" left a lot to be
desired, so I figured that he could perform well, but only when
directed well. Since NOTT was a tv movie, I figured his perf would be
akin to his "Lonesome Dove" work.

Boy was I wrong! (And I have never been so happy to be wrong!) Devon
was by far the strongest thing in NOTT. I'm sure the girls are going
nuts over him in this role. He looked good (ya gotta love that floppy
hair!), he played a hero, and he was a nuturing big brother. You KNOW
that girls around the country were drooling more than the baby in the
film. Seeing with a baby fueled their fantasies of Devon as a father,
I'm sure.

Anyway, Devon was very appealing and very believable. He gave an
outstanding performance in a picture that didn't have particularly high
production values. I just hope he does at least as well in "Robin of
Locksley". Things are going well for Devon. His popularity will carry
him for at least another year. By then he'll be 18 and away from the
age restrictions that prevent many kids from transitioning. If he ages
well and doesn't look like a perpetual teen (like Ralph Macchio), he
might have a long career ahead of him.

I sure hope so.

Well, I'm sure not enough. Earrings greatly enhance the looks of young
actors, IMHO. Look how many young actors are wearing them. Let's see...
there's Devon Sawa, Nick Stahl, Andrew Keegan, Jonathan Jackson, Will
Estes was sporting one in last week's Kirk, Kirk Cameron wore one, as
did Corey Haim (he got up to three), Aaron Michael Metchik, Chris
Furrh, Balthazar, I've seen pix of JJR (not sure if he really has one),
Mark Paul, Brian Austin Green was wearing one way back when he was
young, both Billy and Bobby Jacoby wore them, Max Slade, Brian Bonsall,
Shane McDermott, Chad Allen got one in an episode of "Our House",
etc...

I really think earrings look great on boys. They ALL should get at
least one.

[Chad is producing a play here in LA, "Biloxi Blues". He usually plays
Henessy (sp?), but Sunday he had another commitment so someone else
substituted for him. However, Chad did show up at the end of the show,
so we got to say 'hi' and he even signed an autograph for Michael. I
didn't get one, because I had already gotten one back in his "Our
House" days PLUS two personalized signed photos.]

I definitely agree with you KF. Sometimes an earring can do alot for
someone's appearance.

As for Brian Austin Green, he has worn multiple earrings in both ears at
times and Wil Wheaton has both ears pierced (I wish he never left STTNG).

I read that Devon actually had both ears pierced when he got it done a few
years ago, much to his Mom's surprise. I wonder if he'll ever go back to
wearing them in both ears. Some boys can get away with that and it looks
better than one does. And I'm sure he'd be one of them.

Where did you see a picture of Chris Furrh, let alone with an earring. I
haven't seen anything on him in awile?

I don't think he could get away with it, and I don't think he'd look good
with earings in both ears. The thing about not looking good in both ears
on him is a matter of opinion, but the fact that he woln't get away with
it isn't. Think about it. Fine skin, beautiful hair, actor,...if he threw
both earings on (sorry Jody, I gotta say it.) he'd get a LOT of people
thinking he was gay. I'm still a teen (Today's my B-day! I'm 17!) and I
got my left ear pierced about two months ago. The right ear is supposed to
mean your gay, and I know NO white guy with both ears pierced. Black guys
do it all the time and no on thinks anything of it, but not on a white
guy. It's a teen thing.

And before it was a movie, it was a play. Broadway, even.
Semi-autobiographical, by Neil Simon. The middle of a trilogy,
including "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Broadway Bound".

Hmmm, I think that was what they said when I was in high school, too
(about the left ear thing). But that's pretty silly -- I know lots of
white guys with both ears pierced, and you could never make any
assumptions or generalizations about them. I've got both mine pierced
twice, but I don't usually wear any earrings at all -- just my nose stud.

I'd think Hollywood would be even more liberal and un-labbelling than
Milwaukee, too.

I know of a lot of white guys with both ears pierced. Few of
them are famous, though. Does Andrew Keegan wear earrings in both ears
or just his right? Personally, I think the whole right earring/gay
thing is stupid. I'm finally considering getting one myself, even

What about the opening scene to his guest appearance on Lonsome Dove: The
Outlaw Years. If my eyes and videotape aren't lying, I believe Devon's
opening scene showed him in bed with a "lady of the evening" in only his
longjohns - no shirt. And we did get to see it for a bit before the
fighting broke out His lady friend was also quite impressed with Devon
and thought he had the makings of a great lover.

Where's all the discussion about Devon's latest movie - Robin of Locksley?
Don't tell me that none of his fans saw it yet. Or is everyone like me
and not have SHOWTIME?
I know its scheduled to be on again a few times in March, so we still have
a chance to get access and watch it. I know I'm going to do it, Devon is
definitely worth it.

hehehe...You telling me that if Devon got his nipples pierced, you

wouldn't want to see it?!?! I would! I think it would look great! Both him
and the ring!

And let's not forget a ring in the navel!

"Aw, yuck!"

IMHO, tattoos and piercings are like bras on a car--you can't improve
on the original design.

Of course, this applies to well-favoured people like Devon. Some people
are ugly to begin with, so it doesn't detract; there's nothing to
detract from.

It has been interesting to read all of the posts concerning the earring
that "Danny" was wearing in Night of the Twisters. Apparently Devon was
wearing the earring throughout the movie, but somehow it was "airbrushed"
out. I watched several scenes on the VCR and you could see that it was
electronically removed. This was especially noticeable in the scene when
he was in the basement bunker at the police station.

I wonder why the Family Channel (or the film's producers) chose to do
that?

YES!!! I thought I was the only one who noticed that!0

You're right. Why didn't they do it at the beginning of the film also?

I haven't seen the movie, but if it's about tornadoes then
it's probably set in a mid-western state where earrings
are not all that common and would make him stand out.
