Hi-
Some ALERT!S and things to watch for on Monday June 18, 2000. All
times listed are PACIFIC:
ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
12:50 a.m. The Movie Channel "APT PUPIL" (1:55)
(BRAD RENFRO is SUPERB, AS USUAL, in this thriller about a teen who
discovers his neighbor is a former Nazi officer. Some *GREAT* visual
appeal as a bonus!)
7:15 a.m. Cinemax "MAKING OF 'SMALL SOLDIERS'" (:15)
(GREGORY SMITH!!!!!!)
11:00 a.m. ABC "PORT CHARLES" (:30)
(Just a reminder: COLTON JAMES, age 12!!!!!)
11:35 a.m. The Movie Channel "THE KID WITH X-RAY EYES" (1:25)
(See my other mentions of this movie in recent weeks for details about
why this is one of the worst films with T-I appeal to come along in
YEARS! It SUCKS. But I guess you should see it once, JUST so you can
watch JUSTIN BERFIELD co-star)
12 Noon ABC "ALL MY CHILDREN" (1:00)
(Just a reminder: JESSE McCARTNEY, just turned 13, and sometimes
ZACHARY KADY!!!!! Jesse was on this past week, and might be on much
more as the summer hits! I want him to SING on the show... now that
would be AWESOME!!!!)
12 Noon KTLA "LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE" (1:00)
(Well, all of a sudden TV Guide is back to printing episode
descriptions this week, so I get to know what's on! The description
of today's says: "Garvey's son risks angering the farmers to care for
a wolf." PATRICK LABORTEAUX!!!)
1:00 p.m. CBS "AS THE WORLD TURNS" (1:00)
(Just a reminder: JOSEPH CROSS, just turned 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
1:00 p.m. Sci-Fi Channel "THE SENTINEL" (1:00)
(TV Guide's description: "Banks' son is taken hostage at a basketball
game." I've listed this episode at least 2 times before and asked for
help identifying the actor who plays the son. I don't get this
channel, so please try to help!)
2:00 p.m. Univisión "EL NIÑO QUE VINO DEL MAR" (1:00)
(Visually wonderful Mexican soap opera ["novela"] about a boy lost at
sea who is rescued and is cared for by a family. [The title of the
show translates as "The Boy Who Came From the Sea."] There are LOTS
of kids in this show, led by young actor IMANOL, who sings the song
heard at the end of each episode. This show will END in AUGUST,
according to one web site I read; Mexican "novelas" all are
time-limited, usually running for a few months only. So WATCH THIS
WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!)
WHAT A WEIRD TIME FOR THIS TO BE ON:
2:00 p.m. Disney Channel "P.U.N.K.S." (1:40)
(TV Guide lists this as a 1999 Made-for-Cable film, but IMDb lists
it's date as 1998. Further, IMDb has a review of it written in
December of 1998, so obviously the reviewer got to see it by renting
it, as you folks have pointed out. The stars are TIM REDWINE at about
13, and BRANDON BAKER, 11-12-ish, whom we enjoyed seeing in "Johnny
Tsunami," and currently enjoy in NBC's "One World" [see 9:30 a.m.
Saturdays on NBC]. Also in the cast is older teen PATRICK RENNA. The
cast of this movie LOOKS great, but our friends here in AFTI tell us
it's not that great. Watchable, visually appealing, but not very
good. At least that's what the current sentiment that I'm aware of
says. I've taped it, but haven't had a chance to see it yet; I will
someday, I hope)
4:35 p.m. Showtime "SPLITSVILLE" (AKA: "OPERATION SPLITSVILLE")
(1:35)
(I *FINALLY* watched this and taped the closing credits awhile back.
There are LOTS of young male actors in this, but the 3 most prominent
are: JESSE LITTLEJOHN as "Christopher," DAVID BERRY as "James" [the
true lead actor of the film], and GRADY HUTT as "Tommy" [who has GREAT
dimples when he smiles!]. Take a look!!)
SYNDICATED (5:30 p.m. KTTV-11 in L.A.) "HOME IMPROVEMENT" (:30)
(This is the final season episode in which Randy, played by JONATHAN
TAYLOR THOMAS, announces he's leaving for Costa Rica)
POSSIBILITY:
SYNDICATED (6:30 p.m. KCAL-9 in L.A.) "REAL TV" (:30)
(Included, according to TV Guide, are "clips of RICKY MARTIN." I
don't know if they are recent clips or old ones from his Menudo days,
but it might be fun to watch this and find out)
7:00 p.m. Disney Channel "STEPSISTER FROM PLANET WEIRD" (1:30)
(Brand-new Disney Channel movie that premiered just this past Saturday
night. I wasn't able to see or tape it then, so here's another
chance. It will air again on Friday, too. According to one thread in
this group, there is a character named "Cutter," played by TOM WRIGHT,
about whom I know nothing)
7:30 p.m. Sci-Fi Channel "OUTER LIMITS" (1:00)
(TV Guide's description of this episode: "A little girl claims a
monster abducted her brother." Do any of you know this episode?)
ALERT!!!!!!!! ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!
8:00 p.m. WB (KTLA in L.A. and on Satellite and Cable) "7th HEAVEN"
(1:00)
(There is a wonderful storyline in this repeat episode about Ruthie's
teacher calling her "stupid," but that is NOT the reason to watch/TAPE
this! The REAL reason is the guest-starring appearance of young actor
SHAWN PYFROM as a boy with Tourette's Syndrome!!!!!!!!!!! If you
didn't see this when it was first on, SEE/TAPE it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
8:00 p.m. Fox Family Channel "ABOUT US: THE DIGNITY OF CHILDREN"
(2:00)
(TV Guide's description: "Reflections on growing up in the U.S.")
(WITHIN THE PAST FEW DAYS, MY CABLE SYSTEM DE-SCRAMBLED FOX FAMILY
CHANNEL, WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BASIC CHANNEL, SO NOW I CAN TUNE IT
IN ON MY SECOND VCR!!!!!!!! YAY!!! *MUCH* GREATER FLEXIBILITY FOR
ME!!!!! NOW I WISH THEY'D DO THAT WITH LIFETIME TOO!)
8:00 p.m. Showtime "WHAT DREAMS MAY COME" (1:55)
ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8:00 p.m. USA "WALKER, TEXAS RANGER" (1:00)
(This is the episode in which Trivette accidentally shoots a
6-year-old boy. His older brother is played by KAJ-ERIK
ERIKSEN!!!!!!!!!)
8:25 p.m. Disney Channel "BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY--THEY GET EVEN"
(1:40)
(I'm not familiar with this 1991 film. In the cast are DENIS HEAMES,
age unknown, whose long career spanned the years 1991-1991 <g> ,
MICHAEL MURPHY, SHAGGY MURPHY, BEN SAVAGE, and others. There are
step-brothers and other kids, so I really have no clue as to the T-I
appeal of this movie. Help, anyone?)
ALERT!!!!!!!!
PBS (Check Local Listings. Airs at 10:00 p.m. Ch.28 in L.A., 9:00
p.m. Ch.24 in San Bernardino/L.A.) "1900 HOUSE" (1:00)
(Episode 2 of the 4-Part series. The 1999 family moves into the 1900
house and begins living without 20th Century conveniences. In the
family is a son who appeared in pictures in TV Guide to be 11-12-ish,
but whom we have been told is 9)
ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:50 p.m. Disney Channel "BINGO" (1:30)
(This is, bottom line, NOT a good movie. But somehow some way I LIKE
it! [It *IS* a "boy and his dog" movie, after all.] I like ROBERT J.
STEINMILLER JR. in the starring role, and I like DAVID FRENCH as his
older brother. This is one of those movies that, though it's not very
good, grabs me whenever I'm flipping channels and see it on. Take a
look!)
Happy Viewing!

This one had great reviews in our local paper, thanks for the reminder!

I don't know about that... everything I've read on the subject suggests that
the show will be ending in a few weeks, most likely the week of July 11.
The
way the plot is moving on the show, I'd say July 11 is about right.
I must admit I've become quite attached to this show, and will be sorry to
see
it end (although I'm sure everything will end happily for Felipin!). But
don't get stressed out just yet! When El Niño Que Vino Del Mar concludes,
Univision will begin a new telenovela in it's place. It's called "Serafín",
and it's about a boy who retreats into a magical world of animated
characters.
The boy is played by-- get this-- Imanol's BROTHER!

I was just going from memory. But I do seem to remember reading
"Agosto" not "Julio." Either way, the show WILL be wrapping up this
summer. What a difference between that practice and the U.S. practice
of having shows go on for 20-30 years or more, with zillions of cast
changes, etc! I like the Mexican system better: Tell a story and
bring it to a conclusion.

LOL! That's great! Do you know, is he a younger or older brother?

One of Joel Palmer's episodes though he is onscreen less than a minute
in this one.

He looks to be younger by one or two years; perhaps about ten years old.
Here's the web site where I found most of the information; perhaps you can
comprehend it better than I can... I can't tell if they even mention the
boy's
name, only his character's name, "Pepe":
