I've heard "This and That" about the incident but since I wasn't there
I'm only going to say that whatever went on J.P. was the ultimate
loser. :(

Makes you think tho... J.P. is fired because some writer accuses
Butler of molesting him? Duh...

Hi folks!

I don't know if anyone ever posted an answer to the "what happened to
the original Quentin" question, but I just found something on the web
that might help. According to an interview with Brett Butler (Grace) in
the Dallas Morning News, the reason Jon Paul Steuer had to leave the
show is because one of the head writers was accusing Butler of molesting
J.P. Of course, Butler denies it, and IMO, she probably didn't do it.
She says it's because that writer wanted to get out of his contract, but
that because of the accusations, J.P. "may have to leave the show."

(The interview, BTW, was from May of 96.)

If anyone wants the full text of the article, it can be found at:

Hope this helps!

Thank You for your referance. In the past postings on this subject
there were referances to a tabloid article on the subject. There were no
links that I know of that could substanciate anything. At the time I
took an atitude that I did not feel that a tabloid account was
sufficient evidence to automatically condem someone of wrong doing. I
always have had and will continue to have the young actors best interest
in mind here. I also respect the right of the accused to refute attacks
from tabloid journalism. The link that you provided at least
substanciates her responce to this matter. I had hoped that someone
might provide a link that was in J.P. Stuers behalf. So far, the matter
has been very hush-hush. I still dont know quite what to think, but it
would certainly be very unprofessional and unethical to levi a false
accusation against someone just to get out of a contract. Brett sounds
sincere in what she was saying, but there is a gap here as to what may
have happened that might have made it possible for a "sexual
harrassment" clause to have any "effect" here. For this reason, there
are still too many ananswered questions to make a good decision on this.
I appreciate the link and hope that if anyone has anything else
constructive to add, that they will help fill in the gaps.
