Anyhow, I do have the entire Episode 1 in a single mpg file, it is 194MB
long. Did someone want that posted? If so I probably can split the files
some time tonight or tomorrow and post it to a.b.m.ti (x-post to
a.b.p.ti?).

You can if you want to, but keep in mind that with a file size that big,
anticipate numerous repost requests.
I really appreciate it! I've been looking forward to seeing this for quite
some time. What had made me think of it recently was the posting of the
trailer that someone had issued to ABMTI a few months ago. I hope plenty of
that is in the first episode. Although there are a few scenes I'm sure I
will NOT like, there should be at least as many that would captivate me in
various ways.

I, too, at one time had the first episode, but lost it during a CD-R
mishap. I -do- still have the trailer and would be happy to post for
any/all who are interested.
The first episode wasn't all that great IMHO. But it was needed to setup
the characters for later. I do wish they had released more that one
episode. I remember setting up my PC to download it all night over my
33.6k connection. Still took forever.

Unfortunately, most of the interesting material in the preview seems to be drawn
from later episodes which apparently nobody has ever seen. Episode One is more
like a prologue, which sets the stage for what was to follow, and contains, I
fear, the few scenes you don't think you'll like. Overall, I think Episode One
is rather poor, particularly the acting and pacing, but from the preview at
least, I think the series would have developed into something considerably
better than what we are left with.

I searched the web and this was all I could find below.
Is that the same program?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DEN's first project, Chad's World, a series composed of six-to-eight minute
segments debuted in 1998. Produced by Brock Pierce, it was billed as the first
programming ever aimed at gay teens, a sensitive story of one boy's coming of
age.
"It was embarrassing," one former creative employee says. "It was the worst
piece of shit I'd ever seen—and I'm gay." The script, shot at the home of
Collins-Rector, Shackley, and Pierce, concerned a teenager who ran away from
Michigan to live in a large house with his older brother and his brother's gay
lover. Shackley wrote infuriated memos when CEO David Neuman pulled it from the
Webcast.
It's true that Chad's World was DEN's first project, but I don't think it
was originally supposed to be 6-8 minute segments. If you have the patience
to download the first episode, now appearing on abmti and abpti (thanks to
Th* Lunatik), you'll see it was more like a standard TV show length.
Soon afterward, DEN must have figured out that almost nobody had the T1 or
other high speed connections to allow them to download shows like this.
That's when they decided to produce much shorter programs. But I think
Chad's World was already a dead production by the time this second
generation DEN appeared.
I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as this "creative employee" said.
But there were serious problems with the show, and just about everything
else at DEN too, I guess.
Judging from what you say, it sounds like they took the lengthy episode and
combined it into 6 to 8 minute episodes "aimed at gay teens, a sensitive story
of one boy's coming of age."
Perhaps the reason they did that was due to the problem you explain about the
dowloading connections.
Whichever it is, I will download it if all the parts are there.
Last time I went through all of the trouble of downloading the short film
Trevor---but the poster ignored my requests and would never repost the missing
parts for me so I never got to fully view what I downloaded.
Hopefully, this one is a different poster.
Just got through the first fourth of the video & have to say that I find it
pretty impressive.
Yes, it does seem mediocre in the way it was filmed & produced---so perhaps
that was what the "creative employee" based his comment on. The dad's
unbelieved acting was the worst of all. One of those projects where the teens
clearly outshine the adults.
Also, what was the sex scandal Brock Pierce was involved in last year? Did
that ever get resolved?
I see Pee Wee Herman is involved in one now. Again.
Looks like they are reporting it as another possible Michael Jackson frame up
scandal for money.
> Also, what was the sex scandal Brock Pierce was involved in last year? Did
The scandal was a lawsuit alleging a variety of illegal sexual activities
between three DEN executives (Brock being one of them) and underage
employees. The last news stories on the situation, written last summer,
reported rumors that the three men had fled the US. Interestingly, a web
search shows a company called WWTIV, World Wide Technology and Internet
Ventures, registered in the British Virgin Islands, listing Brock and the
other ex-DEN execs as "associates" but with rather flimsy evidence that they
actually do anything.
Last night I did a lot of web research on the stories while I was downloading
the files. It seemed the 2 partners started the DEN business then sought then
18 year old former child actor Brock Pierce to finalize DEN.
I think that pretty much spells it all out right there with the 18 year old
part.
They needed the money to start the web business & Pierce was their ticket to
get the financial backing being that he just got all of his earnings at age 18
from being a child star in movies.
I don't think they hired Brock for his money. The group's leader was very
wealthy with money he'd made as founder of the ISP Concentric.
Hired??
Firstly, Brock was a partner---not a hired employee. You don't hire a partner.
You make it sound as if Marc Rector was super rich when in fact due to his
extravagant life style, buying a huge mansion, etc he was always in the need of
financial backing, selling off company stock, etc. in order to get all of his
projects off the ground.
I've read several conflicting stories all over the web many of which contradict
others.
In one I read that Brock Pierce was not mentioned in the sexual lawsuit filed
against Marc & the company DEN. Then I read one saying that the lawsuit
claimed that over the years, the boy was sexually abused by all three.
Here's the jest of it:
In 1993, Marc Collins-Rector (-long before Brock Pierce entered the firm & was
still a child actor making Mighty Ducks) lured a 13 year old boy named Daniel
S. to his home by offering him a job "used his age, his corporate position, his
home, his wealth, and his maturity to commit acts of sexual abuse."
Years later, Brock Pierce joined the firm to help them produce streaming movies
for the net which was launched by DEN in May in 1999. (-Brock turned 18 in Nov
1998). Also by then the male being sexually abused by Marc was no longer a
minor (-with being 13 in 1993)
The abused male filed a sexual lawsuit against Marc (& many reports say DEN as
well). The lawsuit against Marc told the full story of sexual abuse going back
as far as when the boy was 13 years old in 1993. Suddenly financial backers
(including Microsoft) panicked at finding out a pediaphyle was at the helm of
DEN leading to Marc's (age 40) resigning from DEN in which partners Chad M.
Shackley, 24, and Brock Pierce, 18, resigned with him.
The lawsuit was settled with the young abused male from a payoff by Marc.
It was speculated that the 3 resigned due to DEN's claim of their extremely
extravagant spending of much of the companies fundings (in which investor's
were wanting to know where all of their money went) although the 3 stated they
were resigning to start an ecryption based company.
Executive's continuing at DEN claim that it was clear from the beginning by
simply seeing a 40 year old with a 24 & 18 year old (-Pierce) & 16 yr old (-the
minor) that something was not right with this crowd but then when they produced
a film (Chad's World) with 2 young teen age boys in bed with each other, it was
clear that "there was something wrong."
It was also speculated that the young male claiming he was sexually abused was
one of the main actor's used in the film Chad's World (-which was filmed in
their home) and that the reason the lawsuit was filed was because the young
male felt he wasn't acurately paid (from some web promotions he did selling off
some of the props used in the film) which was the reason the suit was (-so
said-) to be filed against DEN as well, also resulting in a so called secretive
payoff by DEN in which the lawyers have sealed documents not to be disclosed to
the public to protect the companies investors.
There are conflicting stories all over the net on what happened.
One Media Web containing several pages of the DEN story with several
conflicting reports of it's own also contained one stunning feedback post
mainly due to who it was from:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Daniel S
Email: dan...@webezz.com
Location: Arizona
Occupation: Student
Lot's of stuff you don't know about. I hope they all burn!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would love to see the trailer as well.
Please post if you can.
Thanks
Now after finally downloading the entire show and watching it, I see there was
indeed a Daniel S in the cast playing a character named John. However, in the
first episode, Daniel S (John) was only shown in the theme song as 2nd top
billing of the cast---as well as the end credits.
That means that there are probably more episodes that never made the net
airings in which the character John (Daniel S) evidently was to be a love
interest of Chad since they seem to be the same age in the theme song.
Actually, Brock Pierce was 17 when he joined up with DEN. In fact, in
the original publicity surrounding the web release of Episode 1 of
"Chad's World," much was made of Brock's age and the fact that he was
the youngest producer in Hollywood.
Likem
There were some reports I found on the web hinting that he was 16 when he
joined---others saying 17----others 18.
However, Chad's World copyright date on the film lists 1998 in which Pierce
turned 18 in Nov 1998.
However, it didn't air on the web until May 1999.
So it's possible that it was filmed when Pierce was 18 since scenes on the film
does appear to be around Winter 1998 (possibly Nov-Dec).
It's possible he joined when he was 17 knowing he was about to turn 18 in
November & get a sh*tload of money to invest in as a partner along with his
knowledge of making films from having starred in them.
There's not that much to Chad's World Ep 1 to say that it wouldn't have taken
no more than a week to film.
As far as Daniel, it just looks as if while the other 3 were living it up
$$-wise from being partners, he was just left out in the cold being the only
one of the 4 not able to reap the $$ rewards they were---which is probably why
he sought to sue for sexual harrassment.
Some reports say the 3 are hiding out from fear that the law will be pressing
charges for sex with a minor---however Pierce was the exact same age as the
minor---which could explain why Pierce's name was not mentioned in the lawsuit.
Other reports say they are hiding out because of the investor's (Microsoft,
etc) investigation of where all of their money went to.
It was on the web in the summer of 1998. The copy I have has a save date of
7/13/1998. This would be the date I downloaded it.
Guess more conflictions. I had a hard time getting any facts straight with all
the webs saying different info.
BTW---there is a really interesting message board on Brock at:
Not really much factual but interesting to see fans reactions to what happened.
