Hi all.

I just like to add my last two cents.
It's been great fun over all these years. Now
I regret all those times I just took notes that
never made it into a computer. Sigh.

It's a strange coincidence that this list
should end when the new movie should be
stimulating discussions. Only yesterday I
had a chance to watch it. I did it with one
eye laughing and the other one crying.
I'm deliriously happy to know that Star Trek
will go on. But it makes me sad that Vulcans
probably won't be a part any longer. To me
it seems the powers that be really hated them.
I mean, in a plot full of time-travel no-one
turns up with the idea of changing time again
to save Vulcan!!! With the elder Spock
available who already initiated two time-
travels himself before! And Save the Council,
Save the Vulcan culture is quite feeble,
isn't it?
Zachary Quinto is a very convincing Spock.
(Funny detail: In Germany they dubbed him with the
voice of Peter Petrelli and not Sylar, which is
a bit strange.)
But I fear the character will be boring,
now that they turned him almost Human and gave
him a childhood in a sheltering parental home.
And isn't it despicable that he's ignoring his
duty to his people and instead goes off having
fun seeking out new civilizations while his
own is struggling to survive? 10,000 people
are not very much. One should think both Spocks
are badly needed.
It's a restart of the franchise that rests on
strange foundations. At least from my point of
view. But overall I liked the movie. All detail
shows that finally they're taking Star Trek
serious and I'm looking forward to what comes
next.

I like to thank everyone for their postings
and especially Randall for making it possible.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciated it all.
Just one question: What about the archive?

Susanne
