This was the arrangement of those two songs that he featured on that tour.
The performance during a "real" show (vs. on SNL) was even more spectacular
as the sax and guitar solos were considerably longer and the two solos were
segue'd together by Jeff Campbell (the guitarist) sustaining a note and
Branford picking up on that sustain with the same note. It was seamless!

Yes, that was the touring band for that go-round, though the drummer (Marvin
Smith - currently on Leno's Tonight Show) was replaced by several people
through the remainder of the tour. Interestingly, the first time that
Vinnie played with Sting was at the *very* tail end of this tour during some
benefit shows in Central America.
The guitarist, as I mentioned, was Jeff Campbell, a New York session player.
The bassist was Tracy Wormworth, notable because she was Kenny's girlfriend
and, in Sting's words, the only bassist that he had met at the time that
could play reggae. He still has never hired another bassist...
Branford and Kenny were indeed there, tho' Branford was spotted off in some
shows by Steve Coleman. Delmar Brown played keyboards (and provided very
high backing vocals - hired by Sting because "he was the only person he had
met that could sing as high as <Sting>") as well as Kenny. Sting also had a
keyboard set up beside his mark centre-stage. Dolette MacDonald was the
backing vocalist on the tour. Also, if you look closely during We'll Be
Together on SNL, you will see Danny Quatarochi, Sting's personal assistant
sitting behind a Synclavier playing back sampled backing vocals. He usually
does this from backstage (and is in fact something that is now completely
sequenced), but for whatever reason, he was onstage that night. Mino
Cineleau (sp?) was the percussionist.
Sting primarily just sang on this tour, but played guitar on some charts.
As you might be able to tell, this was my favourite incarnation of the
touring band - I saw it three times. All three times Branford was playing.
The first two had Jean-Paul Cicarelli playing kit and the last time had J.T.
Lewis playing kit.
Hope this info is cool for you.
Cheers

I didn't become a real "fan" until about 1995, so some of this stuff is still
new to me. Glad I got to see it tho! I liked the cd version the first time I
heard it. I imagine live it was spectaular!
>though the drummer (Marvin
>Smith - currently on Leno's Tonight Show)
I thought that was him, but couldn't remember his name!
>Delmar Brown played keyboards
Why does that name sound familiar??
>Sting primarily just sang on this tour, but played guitar on some charts.
That is interesting. Any idea why he didn't play??
>Hope this info is cool for you.
It sure is, thanks a lot!!
Linda
Oh several times, and of course, I taped it some time ago. I have it stashed
away somewhere, I should dig it out, I haven't watched it in about a year.

She plays in the band on the Rosie O'Donnell show.
Pat
do you know the "Sting and Gil Evans" live recording from 1987?
Delmar Brown was part of the Gil Evans Orchestra

It was wonderful, Pat! And, Sting looks absolutely gorgeous!!!! AAAHHH!! I
wish I had been a fan back then and thus could have seen him more in that
era...imo he was at his best-looking then!! WOW!!
Linda
I knew she looked vaguely familiar, but couldn't place her. I don't watch
Rosie that often, but now I know where I've seen her!!
