It certainly is different. I've only listened to it twice so far, and the
second time was a little easier on my ears, so maybe I'll eventually get used
to it? I like the rest of the song, tho.

I love the rest of the song, particularly the beginning. Also like the funky
instrumental part in the middle. The reason I think I find the French rap
slightly irritating is not because of the rap itself but I just don't like the
singer's voice or style. It's too jolting in a song like this. This would have
been better if the rap had been done in a smooth er tone (ala Lauren Hill).

Yeah, I don´t like it, too! It´s not Sting-like. But very good on this
album: many jazzy parts!

They that have power to hurt and will do none,
That do not do the thing they most do show,
Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,
Unmoved, cold and to temptation slow;
they are the lords and owners of their faces.

Yes, that's how I've edited it! The rest of the song is so good, I guess that's
why it's annoying. I agree with the comment too that it's largely the rapper's
voice and the harshness of it. Oh well, I still admire the effort, just wish
End of the Game was on the disc!
hm...i like it. something different, at least. i think it's a great
song-rap and all :)
I didn´t mean track 5, I meant the whole CD!

"La Belle Dame Sans Regrets"
(I apologize in advance for making the gross assumption that very few of
you speak French. I realize it is also possible to understand the
lyrics and still not like it--in which case, I say, chacun a son gout.)
Unlike his other triangle songs like "Seven Days" or "When We Dance,"
this one goes a step further and gets the point of view of the woman in
question, as played by the female rapper. Her opinion? "If you don't
like the arrangement, too bad--you can leave."
What do you think?
