MOUNT EDEN, The Bronx (WABC) -- Police have released photos of the
suspects they are looking for after one person was killed and five others
were wounded in a shooting at a Bronx subway station.
Six people, mostly innocent bystanders, were shot around 4:30 p.m. on
Monday while waiting on the northbound platform for the No. 4 train at the
Mount Eden train station.
Investigators now believe there were three gunmen who fired at least 19
rounds, both inside the train and on the platform.
Detectives believe they have identified one of the suspects and are
attempting to identify the other two.

Among the victims, ranging in age from 14 to 71, one was pronounced dead
at St Barnabas Hospital. He was later identified as 35-year-old Obed
Beltran-Sanchez.
The injuries to the other five -- a 14-year-old girl, 15-year-old boy, 28-
year-old man, 29-year-old woman, and 71-year-old man -- are not believed
to be life threatening.
The victim with the most serious injuries is the 29-year-old woman who was
shot in the face and neck.
Station agent Abdul Hussein saw the woman bleeding profusely and called in
the emergency on the system's dedicated phone line.
"Everybody's running outside, people are jumping on top of each other, it
was crazy," Hussein said.
Police believe the shootout was gang-related. The two groups are believed
to have come together in a chance encounter on the train. One group
boarded at 125th St in Manhattan and the other at 161st St in the Bronx,
near Yankee Stadium.
"If you can imagine the chaotic scene-you have a crowded train pulling
into a crowded platform," said NYPD Detective Bureau Chief Joseph Kenny.
"One shot being fired. Now everybody's trying to scramble to get off the
platform."
Authorities say with the exception of the 15-year-old boy, it is likely
everyone else was not involved in the initial dispute between two groups.
"This is unacceptable," NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper said. "And
when detectives make an arrest, there must be swift, immediate, strong
consequences."
MTA Chairman Janno Lieber insisted that crime is trending lower.
"We're headed in a good direction, but today we're acknowledging what
those folks are going through in the Bronx," Lieber said.
But Transit Union President Richard Davis says more needs to be done to
protect riders and workers.
"They have to focus some more resources onto the platforms and the
stations with police presence," Davis said.
