LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A former Norris High School teacher accused of
having a sexual relationship with a student took a plea deal on Wednesday.
Lillie Bowman, 24, pleaded no contest to third-degree sexual abuse by a
school employee, a class 4 felony, and was found guilty. She was
originally charged with first-degree sexual abuse by a school employee,
which is classified as a 2A felony.
Bowman’s crime carries a punishment of 0-2 years in prison, and/or up to a
year of post release supervision, a $10,000 fine or both. She will also
have to register as a sex offender.
During the investigation, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said they
learned that Bowman had developed a relationship with a 17-year-old high
school student from Norris in March of 2023 that led to sex on 10
occasions.
According to Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, a search warrant was served at
Bowman’s apartment where investigators claim they found evidence of the
crime.
Bowman taught 9th and 10th grade English for Norris High School and was
involved with the school trap team, but has since been fired.
