If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God
is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is
"Probably because of something you did."

Hey! I actually think I saw this back then, for some strange reason. Don't
know why, as I'm rarely checking out anything in AFS. But I think it's a
brilliant picture. Very nicely done. What I think I thought back then too is
that "Han" in the middle of Boba's helmet. although looing perfect, feels a
bit weird. If it had been a reflection on black glass, like it is on Boba's
helmet, it would have had a little less contrast and been a bit darker. But
other than that, I think it's really great. *thumbs up* :o)

Thank you! :)
Yes... I somewhat feel the same way about the carbonite block. If the painting
was bigger, I probably would have done it as a reflection. I had to put it in
there, though... it was part of an assignment for the painting class I did it
for. The assignment was that we had to take an object (any obgect) and a
photograph (any photo) and incorporate them into a painting. My object was the
Fett helmet and my photo was the Han Solo. I really didn't even want to put the
Han solo in the painting... but I had to. After it got graded, I was tempter to
just paint right over the Solo and just eliminate it. But, I just couldn't
bring myself to do it because the painting would have looked too plain without
it. KnowwhatImean?
Yeah I think so. It kind of wouldn't have been detailed enough without it.
But they both still rawk as stand alone objects though. :o)

I was thinking of doing a life size painting of the Han Solo in carbonite
block. Oil on masonite.
That sounds like a cool plan. :o)

A friend of mine and I might actually sculpt one. But, I don't know... it may
take up too much time. I'd rather put that kind of effort into something
original rather than just duplicating a movie prop.
I know. I often think that way myself when drawing or playing in cover-bands
and such, that it would be nicer to be praised for my original material
rather than doing something someone else has already done, kind of. I
depends on what you gonna do with it, if it's purely for your own
entertainment, you can't go wrong with an original piece, but if you're
gonna impress somebody with it, it's easier to do so with doing something
people are familiar with.

Bingo.
I always get people asking me to do paintings of their favorite celebrety. I
have no problem with that... But, it has to be a certain type of celebrety...
No "Ricky Marten's" or "Brittany Spears' ". Dean Martin, I've done. Sinatra,
I've done. Mick Jagger, Marlon Brando, Al Capone... Done 'em all. But, another
stipulation is that I refuse to do a painting of a celebrety from a famous
picture. I won't duplicate a picture of Sinatra that is well known... I'll
search for hours (even days or weeks) for a rare picture of the subject.
Sometimes, I'll even do a painting of a subject in an "out-of-place"
invironment. For instance... Dean Martin was a singer/comedian/actor. So, a
picture of him in a movie studio or recording studio or on a stage is, to me,
his "element". A pic of him at a bar or sitting on a park bench... that is
something I would preferr. It's him... but in a "personal" element, doing
something that "regular people" do.
I'd love to see your Dino and Sinatra pictures, if possible.

Well, I can't show my Dean painting... I only did one of him and I sold it.
But, I can show you my Sinatra as soon as I can get it scanned. I'm currently
working on two more Sinatras. One of them is being sold as it is being done per
request. The other, I am doing because I just liked the picture... the pic is
in black and white and I'm trying to paint it in color (a bit of an experiment
as it is something I have never done before). I'm currently working on getting
all of my paintings scanned so I can have a sort of "electronic" portfolio.
It's costing me a fortune, too... whew!
