Anywho, just answer the question, and I shall be grateful. Or,

Actually, I've heard nothing of an SA sequel... it'sa bit early for
that ain't it? DC's only been out 2 months, after all.

There's only one way to confirm 100% if an SA sequel is being made; if
you see it on the store shelves in the future, then there you go.
I'm not trying to make fun of you here, it's true. Games have been cut
at 95% completion time and again, (Aeon Flux for PS comes to mind) and
I almost never believe the press copy (remember how they made Sonic
X-Treme sound like the greatest game in the universe and it still got
cut?). The only way you can be absolutely sure of a game's existance
is when you see the final product out for retail sale.
Oh, and no need to bother with the [AFSH] tag. It's been pointed out
to me that it may be more hassle than help.

Confirmed WHERE? Can somebody please quote or link to a reliable source
that says this? Right now, it just sounds like a bunch of hazy rumors.

I meant confirmed, confirmed. Lookit Sonic Extreme.
I sware, you people need to get with the program :P Check ign.dc.com, sega X,
and Sonic HQ's news archive and you shall find your answers.
It's been denied by Sega but there are rumours of Sonic and Knuckles
(possibly in 3D) and a charecter spin off. We can't let them have a reason
to make a shoddy PSO though can we?

IGN said NO sequel but did mention rumours of a spin off and S3&K.
I doubt Sonic Team would ever do that...

Well then IGN sucks. Check Sega X, SHQ, and Sonic Next's news archives.
"There has been a lot of talk recently on one specific piece of intel. The
sequel to Sonic Adventure. Sega of Japan all but confirmed the game recently,
and now the gaming grapevine indicates that we may be seeing it sooner than we
thought.
It seems that Sonic Team has already begun development on Sonic Adventure 2 --
coniciding in fact with their continued work on Phantasy Star Online. And there
are rumblings in Asia that the game could see its release in Japan as soon as
next year! We'll keep youposted on anymore new info that we find out."

That confirms jack squat. I'll believe these games are actually in development
and not just ideas on the drawing board when I see some actual screenshots.
No offense, Dash. I just had to say something here.
*sigh*
First confirmation-
"Sega of America has recently announced that our hallowed blue hedgehog will
make his "Second Coming" in the year 2000. Officials for the North American
branch told sources that gamers can expect a new Sonic title in time for next
year's holidy shopping frenzy, as well as possible spin-offs for other
characters from the series.
Whether or not this upcoming game will turn out a winner like Sonic Adventure
or a loser as has been the case with the numerous Saturn clones, it has yet to
be seen. Until then, we can all wait in fear and anticipation for Sonic's
second coming in 2000! Are you prepared ye faithful servants of the hog?"
Source: Sega X (again).
Second confirmation -
"The 9th Annual Toy and Interactive Entertainment Conference proved to be quite
an eventful little endeavor, especially when it comes to Sega. Sega Senior Vice
President of Marketing Peter Moore revealed many things throughout the event,
including news that Dreamcast sales have reached a whopping 750,000 units in
America.
Even more interesting are the details on Sega's online strategy. Sega has three
"phases" planned for their online marketing venture. Phase one consists of a
number of more basic parlor type games, such as cards, board games, and Chu Chu
Rocket. These types of games are very network friendly and more likely to run
smoothly over telephone lines. The second phase is a small step up in terms of
game bandwidth usage, consisting mostly of point-to-point engagements (Sega
Rally 2 being a possibility, but at this point is total speculation). Sega
claims to have "phase 3" up by Q3 2k -- I.e., their network will be fully
functional and ready to support title like PSO and Turbine's Frontier.
That's not even the most interesting news to come from the event, however. The
best part is the confirmation of two highly-anticipated games: Sonic Adventure
2 and Phantasy Star Online. Sega is promising that they will both be appearing
sometime next year.
We'll keep you abreast the situation as new developments occure."
Source: Same place. And I just have to say that Sega X hasn't been wrong yet.
So practically everything they say is in written in stone.
However, you probably still won't believe these articles until actual game
shots are released. And when that happens, I'll be the first to laugh right in
your face :P KIDDING!
All I know is, I'm not believe there is going to be a sequel 'till I see the
danged thing on the SHELVES! :)
