I have tried realigning our IR Blaster (or whatever you call that thing),
and that didn't help. I also tried lengthening the time between numbers
sent when the IR sends the channel numbers to the cable box..you know..
"4..0..1" instead of "401", which also didn't help.
Sonic/Replay support has, of course, been useless.
We have otherwise had no problem with this unit, and have been very pleased
with it. However, this problem has caused my normally mild-mannered
husband to just about have an aneurism, as the *one* sport he watches is in
playoffs now, and it's missing the playoff games (and, in fact, I think
just missed the final <sigh>).
Any suggestions very gratefully accepted. Email to shedevil at aloss.net
appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't have that particular model. But I do recall that problem. But,
again, not with so much detail! Sorry.
But I think the end of the story was that someone had used a "stand-off" to
fix the problem. They used some cut length of plastic to move the IR
Blaster's beamy thing away from the tuner. I think they found that the light
pulse was too narrow for their particular set top box. And moving the IR
Blaster back 1/2 inch was needed. I think they took a clear piece of
plastic, shaped as an "L" and slid part of the L under the tuner, and stuck
the IR Blaster on the part parallel to the face of the tuner box.
Also, other people have noticed that ambient lighting can cause this
problem. Try changing channels in the dark, and see if it can be done
reliably. If it can, you might need to make a small light blocking "fort"
around your IR receiver's eye. Or use a few small strips of electrical tape
to block some ambient light. My brother-in-law once had a lamp with a 3
position brightness switch. On the 3rd position he would have too much
ambient light, and it would screw up his infra-red beams from his remote.
Instead of changing to channel 35, it would change to 92. And so forth.
Good luck,
-9
