See, now there are so many candidates for this position that it's not even
funny. I try to use something different every time this gets asked,
so...once upon a time, ryb posted a collection of letters that he claimed
was a fanfic. Very few things surpass it in sheer awfulness and
crappiness. You can dig it up on Dejanews, I suppose, but I certainly
don't recommend it, unless you've just been laid off from your job, your
children are dead, your spouse has left you, and things simply cannot get
*any* worse.

> Why?

What, you mean other than the atrocious grammar, terrible spelling,
nonexistent plot, gratuitous use of explicit language, sex, and violence,
mischaracterization, and the sheer unmitigated gall of the fanfic's
self-proclaimed PG-13 rating? Oh, nothing.

> What made it truly awful?

See above.

> Was it a hentai/ecchi fanfic?

Yes.

> Does anyone know what the marker [CULL] in RAAM means?

No. raam confuses me.

I can't name just one. Some good candidates: Sailor Moon on The Price is
Right (or something like that...well, that was the plot, if not the title) and
The Return of Zoicite and Malachite.
>Why?
For the first one: All caps, worse than watching an ep of Price is Right, no
humor, no characterization, no adventure, just pointless prize-winning.
For the second: No formatting, terrible grammar, no knowledge of
canon/continuity, no suspense.

>What made it truly awful?
They made Zoicite a guy! Waaah!
(That applies only to the second. The first, as I said, had not even the token
villain as a dramatic device.)

Nope. Don't read those.

What made it truly awful?

Was it a hentai/ecchi fanfic?

Does anyone know what the marker [CULL] in RAAM means?

I & I would have to say it was probably a awfull hetai fic by the name of
Artimises lover.

By the 2nd paragraph of the intro we knew it would be terrable, but just out
of morbid curriosity we read a bit more. Just to see how awfull it got.

It execced all our worst expectaions, by about the second paragragh of the
story we simply closed it down and deleted it.

Supposidly it was about a 13 yearold hemaphridite that was not only the writter
but the story happend in first person to him/her.

For me, the hold of that title is still the infamous "Teenage Wasteland". But
somehow, calling a fanfic is giving it too much regard. Sickfic would be more
like it.

>>Why?<<
Because there is nothing of any merit to the story. It is simply a vehicle for
a twisted author to kill off the Scouts, Tuxedo Mask *and* the cats in the most
gruesome ways imaginable. Truely sickening to read.

>>What made it truly awful?<<

See above.

>>Was it a hentai/ecchi fanfic?<<

That it wasn't may be the only plus anyone could ever say about it.

I've heard about this thing! Is there an MST3K of it around?
THAT I'd like to see! After all, I read another MST3K of a fanfic
that made a great many references to 'Oscar', who is, I believe,

Yes, Artemis' Lover *and* its sequel (gag) were written by Oscar and they've
both been MST3K'ed. I think they're on the Sailor Moon Romance page.

I believe there is, by Megane 6.7. Seem to have misplaced the URL,
however. It's on the raac archive, though, afaik.

As a matter of fact, Oscar has written several sequels to his
little masterpiece. Maybe if you all keep giving the weird little idiot
this much attention, he will write more.

Zodiac isn't bad, so much as it is (IMO) overrated. Although on another
front, there are no less than *four* different fanfic series claiming the
letter Z, which I ordinarily wouldn't mind so much, except that the first
to use it were the estimable Biles and Hoffner. It doesn't seem right to
me for others to just use their letter like that.

Then again, there are only 26 letters of the alphabet, and two of those
are taken automatically. Sigh. If only Takeuchi-sama hadn't named SMR
SMR....

Isn't that Janelle's? Don't piss her off, she's got some pretty strong
opinions......whether they are correct or not is another thing entirely.

Maybe I should check it out again sometime, I haven't even peeked at SMZ
for a year. I believe it involves some rather Caucasian senshi with
rather Caucasian names. Some of the names sound rather made-up IIRC. The
writing could still be good, maybe I'll look later.....

SMZ isn't exactly my personal speed (then again, I really have yet to find
a fanfic that I can much dig) but when you consider the factors in play,
it's not too bad. Could do with a bit more proofreading, though, and the
astrological correspondences could have done with a bit more finicking,
but I don't think I could have taken on such a voluminous project
nearly so well at that age, so have no real complaints.

The name thing is something I'm more forgiving of than I used to be;
there are only so many interesting *and* realistic names you can
employ on humans in any given story, especially with the limitations
imposed on a universe such as Sailormoon (I forget if the SMZ names
followed the whole "match your character" school of thought) and it's
often the mark of a good writer to be able to pull off an exotic name
and have you thinking it just fits. I'm not sure SMZ is at that point,
and there could have been a few less exotic names in there (it's
like jalapeno pepper oil), but well-moneyed Merkin exchange students...
I can see it.

Blame the anime! All of the series in the manga were just called Sailor
Moon! (well they did have a pattern in the individual chapter titles,
but nothing like letters)

I wouldn't imagine there are very many fanfics on that series.

I thought is was Okay. It's probably in the second tier of good. The
first tear is reserved for the top few fics that just stand out in my
mind as extremly excelent, like The original Sailor Moon Z, Sailor Moon
V, Refugees, Thy Kingdom Come, Serena and Luna: New Advetures, Sailor
Moon Universal, Sailor Orion, and a few others I can't think of right
now.

You forgot Obligations and its ilk, for one. And the recent Secrets,
which IMO must go at the top of the list.

Obligations I didn't find incredible, but I loved it's sequal, The End
of the Beggining. I haven't read Secrets yet, because I haven't had too
much time to read 'fic lately. But I will read it if it's as good as
everyone says...

For an awful fanfic, look at that Gonterman fellow's fanfic, Sailor Moon in
USA or something like that. Why don't they put barf-bags near the terminals at
school?

If nothing else, Secrets should be read by every Sailor Pluto fan there
is. I don't think I've read a better portrayal of her than Ken Wolfe
shows here. I was in tears at the end...in a happy way.

By the way, Sailor Moon USA #201 has been given the Mystery Science
Theater 3000 treatment. You can find this MiST at:

You can start using two letters of the alphabet
instead of one, like Sailor Moon SS.
For example, Sailor Moon ZX or Sailor Moon BF, etc.

Dunno 'bout your part of the world, but around here it's because you're not
_supposed_ to be reading crappy fanfic's at school. ^_^

We are in Australia dammit! Nothing around this part of the world is
right. Why the hell do we have a queen? I want a president. I want NBC
on Foxtel. I want to be able to wake up to NBC Today :)

[ekapshi]
Have you ever heard the Today theme song that they sometimes play on the
end?
