Rampant speculation time for us UK'ers...

Watching Cartoon Network UK last night (lure of the Powerpuff
Girls...), when on comes a trailer for Toonami... If I'm thinking
right, this is the programming block that carries Sailor Moon is the
US, yes?

It's a 'coming soon'-type trailer (no start date given), and the only
shows specifically mentioned were Dragonball Z & Batman of the Future,
but it's a ray of hope that we may not have to put up with Fox Kids UK
for much longer...

/Bryan crosses his fingers. And thinks about paying CN a large sum of
money to help us out here...

Missed that one :( Was watching the 11:30pm showing - the PPG's
playing at being the PPG's. With Professor dressed up as Bubbles.
Now *that* was a scary sight...!

Hmm... Any other contributions??

Hey Fox Kids Websurfer!

Sailor Moon is the best! We're so glad that you can watch it on Fox Kids.
Fingers crossed there's a new series out next year, so keep your eyes peeled
for the latest info at www.foxkids.co.uk.

We'll let you know as soon as we have some news. Keep watching and hope to
see you online again soon!

Hi there

This probably isn't the right place to ask, but can you tell me when Fox
Kids is planning on showing any new episodes of Sailor Moon (i.e. the second
part of the double episode last seen about a month or two ago, and then onto
newer ones)?

Thanks a lot

You what? Cable/satellite would run the US dub in its original horribly
mangled state - as they are, on Fox Kids. The BBC might just commision a
proper translation and subtitling effort - as they did with Akira, and as
they do with a fair few foreign movies. The BBC sub of Akira is very
obviously the best version available.

I dream of the BBC picking up Sailor Moon.

And if GMTV got their grubby mits on it, they'd shred it even more:(

Fair enough, the BBC's very good when it comes to the treatment of
their *adult* shows, no argument with you there. Anything they
percieve as being for kids, OTOH, they seem to have very little
respect for. Witness the treatment Buffy before the late-night rerun
was brought in.

I don't think the bad treatment SM & some other shows get from UK
broadcasters is restricted to particular companies - it's pretty much
endemic to the whole industry. "They're just kids, they won't really
care..."

Although it's pretty unlikely we'll ever get to see how the Beeb would
handle SM...

Bryan (wishing *all* broadcasters would learn to just leave shows
alone...)

There are more details in the "coming soon" section of ToonText. Toonami
is due to start airing in December (can't remember the exact date), with
DBZ and BotF moved into the Toonami time slot. Gundam Wing is due to
start in January, with more new shows coming later. Currently, the US
Toonami programme includes Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, Tenchi Muyo,
Gundam Wing, DBZ, BotF and Superman. Naturally, the anime shows are
edited, but nevertheless you are looking at one happy bunny...
