Greetings once more, SM fans!

This question has been bugging me ever since I've splashed my face with
cold water this morning. So, I took the extreme measure and cranked up
my Netscape news software and started typing this message, knowing this
newsgroup's reliability in answering questions. I'm not saying that I'm
using all of you ppl out there. I'm saying that since this is the
newsgroup for SM fans, what would be a better place to get an SM related
question answered. Sure, call the question stupid but I need the answer
to this. Thanks and salutations!

I don't know, but based upon her posture when attacking, it looks like
she'd be right handed. Maybe someone will know for sure though.

Your question isn't stupid at all. Being a Southpaw myself, I was very
disappointed to learn that Venus is *not* left-handed. I believe the
person who provided this information was a Mr. DK. In fact, I don't think
*any* anime characters are lefties! Isn't that outrageous?! ^_- j/k

One reason may be that Kanji is written from right to left... so being
left-handed wouldn't be very convenient in Japan... and why am I suddenly
turning this artcile off-topic? ^_-

Hope I helped (very doubtful though)! :)

If they translate the manga, they’ll end up being right-handed. (They
mirror-image mangas before translating them to English.)

In most mangas translated to English, you will find quite an abundance
of left-handed characters. Usually, the mangas are mirror-imaged so as
to accomodate the English-speaker’s habit of reading the frames from
left to right. I saw a sample of “Urusei Yatsura” in Animerica. Both Lum
and Ataru were left-handed in that version.

Actually, it would be no less convenient. If you write Japanese with a
pen, your right hand would smudge the lines you wrote before, while your
left hand would slide over clean paper. The opposite is true for Rômaji.

Indeed. Sounds like you have some idea of what you're talking about.
I've always had that problem myself (another southpaw.)

BTW, have you ever noticed English's anti-left bias?

<snip>

Well, the reason that the Anime characters would be all right handed is because
it is very rare to find a left handed Japanese person. This is not because
Kanji is written right to left, but because in Primary school they are forced
to learn to write right handed, by having the left hand tied behind the back
if they try to use it (or at least this is what used to happen).

As for Kanji, I am a lefty and find "nyet problemski" with writing it (although
not all the time in the right direction).

Wow! My name got mentioned!

Actually I think I may have found a southpaw anime character. Her name is
Lamba Nom - youngest member of the Dangaio team. She sort of has an esper
version of the crescent beam which IS fired from her left index finger.

Sure is nice to be noticed around here.

I am a left handed writer but when I use the mouse I use my right hand. I
find that most left handed writers are not nessisarily left handed
everything. Most left handed writers are usually both handed... so if you
