From the normally useful hardware newsgroups has arisen someone who
posts as if he's using a mcelwainifying text converter, ala jive or
swedish chef. There is amazing similarity in style between Jim Navas
and that net.legend Robert Mcelwaine - maybe he went back to UWEC and
got a CS degree? :) Note the persistent, random capitalizations. Navas
makes heavier use of misplaced ""'s and **'s though. But the general
unmistakable flavor of ranting shines through. Of course the subject
matter is very different. McElwaine's new-age treatises were more
entertaining (if less useful - Navas sometimes has actual real
information buried in there).
To increase his standing in the spectrum of net.kooks, I'd recommend
Mr. Navas post more widely, with less hostility, on more bizzare and
disconnected topics. It's certainly a good start though.
Anyway, here's a randomly selected Navas post appended below for the
amusement and nostalgia of a.f.r.mce readers.

Just to enlighten all of us here, or most of us, what the heck is this...

I mean the a.f.r.mce thingy...
Really, I am serious, I must know, sincerely, John McInturff

Check the net.legends FAQ from alt.usenet.kooks for the definitive blurb
on the guy.
McElwaine was one of the first newsgroup spammers, back in 1992 or so.
He had a number of truely bizzare new-age rants which he manually posted
to everywhere. In addition to the sheer wacky-value of the content of
these posts, his true calling card was the constant use of caps etc to
emphasize about every other word. People on usenet have invented a lot
of emoticons to try to convey body language in their ASCII posts, but
when reading McElwaine's posts, their totally ranting nature came across
crystal clear all on their own.
Off-topic as hell in the FIC newsgroup to be sure, but wow, the posts
are looking eerily familiar.
Hmm... Your attachment didn't seem to make it through... {:(}=
