The Chosens, such feared beings, are supposed to be STRONG and
POWERFUL...only next to the Dark Lord...

Yet, when they come down to do battle with the young and inexperienced
Dragon Reborn...they just seem to be too easy a kill...

Moridin, I hope, can be tougher.

*sigh* I hear ya there..it seems that the portrayals of the Forsaken being
incredibly fearsome enemies have come up short in every novel except for the
first one. One wonders why everyone fears them when everyone who can channel
(whether they've just learned how or not) keeps wiping them out.

The forsaken are fools (period) THe forsaken are a bunch of people with
an ego the size of the two mega-sa'angreal put together. Ishy (the one
with the biggest ego) thought that he could turn the Dragon Reborn into
his second-in-command basically. Later on he thought he could beat him
at his own game. And then finally he thought he could kill him in the
skies. See he's got an ego to match his evil...
Besides the good guys HAVE to win right?

the forsaken are too busy playing power games. they don't see rand as
a threat, therefore they are surprised when he actually does something
by instinct which kills them (apparently something to do with LT)

i think the whole hierarchy thing which keeps the forsaken busy is
their weakness. they probably would seem stronger and more powerful if
they actually quit squabbling among themselves and focussed their
attention more on rand. but, as they are corrupted totally, that's not
likely, is it...?

true. and that kind of binding of the chosen will force rand to link
with women in order to meet the combined power of the chosen.

Moridin has potential. i certainly hope he doesn't go down too easy.
but i'm sure he won't.

Am I crazy to think that Lews Therin might be Moridin? While it seems to
be true that Rand is the Dragon Reborn, it is also true that the two are
not fully integrated. It seems like a normal rebirth wouldn't leave the
voice of the dead guy in your head as a seperate entity. Consider how
Brigitte describes being reborn. There's none of that seperation.

But Rand and Lews are not really one. And the Dark One can give the dead
new life. Perhaps Lews Therin has made a deal and been reborn by the
Shadow, but at the same time Rand is still the Dragon REborn. It was
hinted that if the Dragon ever went over to the Dark One he would be
made Nae'blis.

It would create quite the metaphysical cunundrum. And Lew Therin went
silent at about the same time that Moridin showed up. This would tie
up the question about who helped Rand in Shadar Logoth at the end
of Crown of Swords. Was it Lews Therin manifesting? Was it Moridin?
Yes, it was both.

It would also create more possibilities for the Final Battle leaving
the Dragon dead but Rand alive.

Moridin isn't mad you say? But the Shadow shields its male minions
from the taint. Whether this would work retroactively is open to
question.

There's probably a problem with this theory somewhere, but it's kind of
a fun one. It does raise issues with the whole concept of being someone
else reborn. Is Rand really Lew Therin reborn, if Lews Therin is a
seperate entity whispering in his head? Could that seperate entity
be removed? Would Rand still be the Dragon REborn if that entity wsa
removed?

And BTW, what was the purpose of that pure pool of Saidin in EOTW? Was
it just there to guard the Horn, or was there some import to Rand
getting a taste of pure untainted Saidin, do you think?

No you see, by the second book, they KNOW that rand is The Dragon
Reborn... they KNOW that he is the strongest channeller in 3000 years.
they also (in their minds, because of their gigantic egos) KNOW that
they can beat him single-handedly. Now if they all joined up and Rand
just sweeped a hand and killed all of them, that would be totally
different...
But still its the same stereotype that evil people have big egos and
are always Power-hungry (pun intended)...

arrogance is a weakness because you refuse to believe anyone is as
powerful as they seem, and you tend to believe that others, such as
the sisters, are actually doing the work. you can't believe that
someone who hasn't the skills you have could have the skills you
have... if that makes sense.

i think that was what the forsaken were victims of: arrogance.

Also the DO has told the Forsaken not to kill Rand, at least for the
time being so they basically can only defend themselves 'cos if they
go against the DO there is no hope for them. This means Rand gets to
choose when and (to a certain extent) where they battle and he can
take them by suprise. Gateway in and BF them while they're asleep
perhaps? Or does evil never sleep? :-)

Maybe rand is lew therin's soul reborn, and a little bit of the mind came along
with it but wasn't actually reborn in rand...

Of course it would. Ishamael heals LT of the madness in the prologue of the eye
of the world.

He had to use it to toast aginor of course (or was it balthamel?) and ishamael.

Yeah Moridin has potential but I think we will find he kills himself
within the next two books due to over use of the True Power.

The first part of the "Cast of Characters for the WoT" and the "Prophecies of
the WoT" is complete. Just went through Eye of the World, and I've included
descriptions, details, alignments, etc of every character introduced, as well
as most of the characters even referred to in the book. In addition I've
included every scrap of prophecy, as well as all of Min's seeings in the
companion document. All those interested please e-mail me and I'll attach
them to the replies. It's in Word format, so anyone with word (or WordPadif
you have Win95 or 98) will be able to read it! Just e-mail me at
jaso...@bentonrea.com. As I go through the rest of the books I'll update it
up through PoD.

Nope... I had that impression after the prolog of PoD. He's got Rand's
memories (just as Rand has LTT's), the fact that Rand can's feel LTT when
Mord's near..... it all adds up

Huh? He has Ishy's memories, because he was Ishy. I mean, he uses
the same colors, the room he was in is a room Ishy used before, and he
has memories from the AOL to now. Who else could it be?

What more do you want, RJ to come around a personally tell you that
