because RJ is very slow in writing his books I read a couple of other books.
One of my last 'projects' was the series mentioned in this thread's subject.

I enjoyed this one. It was nice, but short. 694 pages diveded by 3 books (I
got it in one volume) is not much for a fantasy series. The story was nice,
and was a real page turner.

I am interested if there are people here who read it also and if they liked
it?

Only ever tried one book by Janny Wurts, Prince of Something. Gave up.

I am now reading a series she had writen with Raymond E. Feist (daugter of
the empire, mistress of the empire and an other one). The books by Feist I
like a lot, they are very good.

The Cycle of fire is a series which is not that complicated and a nice read
:-)

Feist?? Don't get me started on that fucker. I blame him for a lot of the
bitterness I feel towards fantasy writers at the moment. I bought "Talon of
the Silver Hawk" last year in hard back, what a waste of money. That was the
last straw, no more I said.

I'll take your word for it.

Iesu. The name alone should be enough of a warning, if the name
"Feist" doesn't set off your Immense Suckfest Radar immediately.
C'mon. Talon of Silver Hawk? It sounds like a fantasy romance about a
bunch of Innu's from Northern Ontario with Magical First Nation Powers
going on a Quest for the Magical Silver-Hawk Spear of Power which will
help vanquish the evil King Bushblair.

Look for a geneology. And funny names with apostrophes tossed all over
the place like a four-year cranked out on a bag of candy armed only
with scissors and a marker.

I find there is very little real depth to any of the characters and
everything always works out, no hitchs at all. On top of this anyone of
any note in the series has no weakness or flaws and is great at
everything. The dialogue is poorly written too. Everything repeats
itself when you've read a few as well.

I think so far there has been about 10 conclusions as well:

It was X who was behind it all along. Series ends.
New book/Series. It was actually Y manipulating X, even though this was
never implied in the slightest when the last one concluded. New
conclusion. New Book/Series it was actually Z behind Y before, Ha.
Repeat.

If you know what I mean.

I know, I know. But theres no way you can make me feel worse about
buying it than I already do.

I'm trying anyways. It makes me feel all...fuzzy inside.

So, it's like, what, low-calorie fiction then?

Actually...Well, yes. In that foggy dashboard sense of understanding.

Actually, not so much. Who in the great bloody fuck are you talking
about?

I understand your point, I don't feel this however. I agree with you that
nothing goes wrong and the baddies are defeated easaly, but I still find the
story nice.

G'day.

Candy? I've filled it with rat-poison extract. Adds a jolt of zazz to

Nothing wrong with a story where things go right and bad guys get
defeated. That's why it's called "fantasy". In "reality", they lose,
then cheat so they win anyway, then the next time the good guy has a
chance, they inexplicably win all over again.

This isn't the one about Light and Darkness? I enjoyed that one for a
while, but it got annoying with a great build up of armies in every
book, then a major setback, a large scale slaughter of both sides, then
the protag discovers a new power and manages to escape for another book.

Did she write Master of the White Storm too? That wasn't too bad. Stand
alone.
