Man I can hear those conti tractors go on a lot. I bet they'll have that hay baled up pretty soon now you know you can get a real prime price for that if you know how to market it right.

What has to be done is you get as many systems out there as possible fighting climate change, anywhere from big organizations down to one guy recycling plastic and then you make sure that those systems combine according to the metasystem transition , which will make everything go very very quickly. But you have to figure out how to force a metasystem transition upon them because not all systems combine into one. An acorn does when it grows into an oak tree , a supersaturated solution does when it's shaken, amazingly fast. But maybe there's no way to force one upon systems. Is the mere fact that the systems communicate with each other enough?
We might not even be able to recognize the metasystem for what it is, just as a single individual has trouble knowing what's going on with the entire Earth.

One way to handle global warming is that well around here in Texas we have 100° afternoons Fahrenheit but mornings are like 70° so once the temperatures get up to like about 150 or so the morning temperature gonna be 80° or so and you just get out and do your work then don't wait till the 150° temperature in the afternoon. Oh I remember my father we would be grubbing Huisache is and then it will be hot in the afternoons and he would say well. Just get up at five in the morning no big deal. Have a nice day.

And probably you can try to ensure that a metasystem takes place to reverse climate change, but either it does by itself or it doesn't, but I suspect how you can aid it is to make sure there's as much communication among the subsystems as possible. We already have a tremendous amount of communication everywhere, but what would help would be that the subsystems that go into defeating climate change would especially need a lot of communication.

The russkies have done a preemptive strike against the United States and of course MAD will prevail. the situation is mad isn't it? Yes it is. What's that motto you have up there on the wall ? I've heard the same thing from two different people in the last few days. You have those countries like China, Mexico and India that are not going to adhere to any lowered CO2 emission standards, so what can we do? just turn our jugular veins to the side and wait to die ??? Well, it just Hass to be some type of world government. How do you achieve that ? Would Cybernetic Socialism automatically formed by the massive amount of communications we have worldwide automatically form a living planet that cares about itself be the solution?

I kind of get a kick out of this : we're having all these hot temperatures, like Phoenix today has 115F, Whamblurt in China has 134 and what is all this? Reporting. We're reporting temperatures . Are we doing anything about it? No. We're reporting that we got a bunch of worthless reporters out there reporting the temperatures . Reminds me of this analogy , a guy has been set on flames and he says "I'm now at 1000°F, I'm now at 1100 degrees, now at 1200....."

I read up a little bit about tipping points. pretty grim. Does anybody know if we've already reached the tipping point on a lot of these things they talk about like the Antarctic ice sheet or whatever ? it's pretty grim . it looks like you could extinct humanity by having a terrorist group go around and start forest fires everywhere . pretty grim .and you know what ?when the Earth is a charred cinder either from climate change or from nuclear war the galaxy won't even care. why ? well , Sagan had his pale blue dot analogy but I like this one better : suppose the galaxy is analogous to a city of 1 million people . suppose one homeless person dies in it. does that city care??? No . it buries the body out in pauper's field, , so what happens when earth goes lifeless ? Does the galaxy care ? One more planet lifeless instead of with life , no big deal.

In climate science, a tipping point is a critical threshold that, when crossed, leads to large and often irreversible changes in the climate system.[1] If tipping points are crossed, they are likely to have severe impacts on human society.[2][3] Tipping behavior is found across the climate system, in ecosystems, ice sheets, and the circulation of the ocean and atmosphere.[3]

I was driving out of our ranch yesterday and right where our road meets the highway is the railroad tracks. You see this train go by maybe once a week , three or 400 train car loads of coal because we have a coal fired plant down here at Coleto Creek, isn't that nice , three or 400 railway cars full of coal for a city of 70,000 , and we wonder why the temperature is 134 in China and 105° each day here in Victoria Texas and we're dumping 40,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year and basically no abatement in sight . isn't this wonderful ? just wonderful beyond belief. a civilization that can't give up fossil fuels reminds me of a prospector in the desert, and he finds 100 pounds of gold which he

I noticed that the Clements over there are bailing hay . the Clements have the ranch just past the Conti's. You can make quite a bit of money off those big bales. It's kind of funny, these ranch families around here really make no more effort than city people to get to know one another . I'll go 10 years without running across one of these neighbors. maybe it's just me.

hey, how about this?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Hand

A Russian nuclear system supposedly actually in place now which , according to wiki, if we're pounding Russia with exploding Thermonuclear warheads and all of Russia's ICBMs are still in their silos, will detect the presence of our exploding warheads and fire the Russian ICBMs toward the United States, even with all the Russian command and control destroyed by our warheads. Sounds groovy, doesn't it?

George C Scott says "Gee, I wish we had one of them Dead Hands things"

Einstein: God does not play dice with the Universe.

Hawking: God not only plays dice with the Universe, sometimes He throws the dice where they cannot be seen.

Somebody: If the dice cannot be seen you have to quit playing games, or at least games that involve dice. Remember, all conversations have the form of a game.

I notice the Conti's are shredding today. That must be in preparation for their next big hay crop.

The last colony of great auks lived on Geirfuglasker (the "Great Auk Rock") off Iceland. This islet was a volcanic rock surrounded by cliffs that made it inaccessible to humans, but in 1830, the islet submerged after a volcanic eruption, and the birds moved to the nearby island of Eldey, which was accessible from a single side. When the colony initially was discovered in 1835, nearly fifty birds were present. Museums, desiring the skins of the great auk for preservation and display, quickly began collecting birds from the colony.[21]: 43  The last pair, found incubating an egg, was killed there on 3 June 1844, on request from a merchant who wanted specimens, with Jón Brandsson and Sigurður Ísleifsson strangling the adults and Ketill Ketilsson smashing the egg with his boot.

The Scala and Kolacny brothers staged a recital of the Divinyls "I touch myself" using about 30 16 year old girls. I wonder if these girls realized the song was about female masturbation.

Does the Israel-Hamas war have any good points? Well , certainly there's more communication in the world after the war started , and more communication makes for a stronger Global Brain.

Of course, World War III would also have this effect. There would be a huge rise in communications for about an hour, and then all communications would go dead , killing the Global Brain. So it would achieve its peak and minimum very close together:

do you think that if we had a World War III that civilization could recover enough to have a world war four?

I didn't mention that the reason the eclipse was not visible at Raisin, TX was because of clouds they were so you could see the basic eclipse naked eye, but the clouds prevented any data taking

There was one really sick news story , this mother and her five-year-old daughter were living in an apartment and they were robbed and mother was killed. The daughter knew enough to dial 911. She's talking to the 911 operator and said "I think mommy is dead. She's not moving . I think that means that she's dead. "

I just finished watching a YouTube on Grant Wood's painting American Gothic. The narrator kept emphasizing what a horrible time it was for America , the 30s depression . I remember my father telling me they didn't even know that a depression was on , they had always been dirt poor and they just continued to eat food from the farm.

if we destroy ourselves by nuclear war or runaway greenhouse heating, the galaxy won't care at all about us .
you can draw an analogy between the galaxy and a 1 million person populated city. What if one homeless person dies in the city ? it doesn't care one little bit . it's the same with our galaxy, if the earth is reduced to a barren scarred rock the galaxy won't care , it's got 99,999,999,999 other stars and even more planets still OK . so what?

This war may be making the Global Brain increase because of the overall total communication on Earth being larger than before the war and communication forms the Global Brain, but you can't go too far with that. At some point the larger the war the more it starts destructing global communications facilities, and you're diminishing the global brain.

It's like this ridiculous term they throw around now "disrupting", meaning (I think ) to keep things stirred up and growing . Too little disruption and you don't change anything ; too much disruption and you have a planet that's on fire.

- [ ] I saw on Wiki in the write up of 9/11 that the terrorist planners at one point thought about targeting nuclear power plants , but their consensus was that "It might just get out of hand. " I don't know if that's still there ; I'm getting disappointed with remembering quotes from wiki, and then you go and look and they're gone.

an example is in wiki's write up on the assassination of President Kennedy several years ago, they stated that the Secret Service strong armed Kennedys body away from the Dallas coroner at gunpoint ; now if you read it, it says that there was a scuffle between the Kennedys and the coroner's office , just a little different.

It bears repeating that the more people that know about the Global Brain, the stronger it becomes because the effect is self-awareness; more self-aware a system is the more intelligent it is , just as a human has much more
self-awareness than a chimpanzee and it's much more intelligent due to that.

another one to repeat, would be the rising tide raises all boats, which explains why we're jaded, and we could be in the most fantastic civilization known to the universe, and we would still bitch about it, but myself and others have covered that before
