I was so shocked and sorry to find that she had left us. One of the major
funeral homes in my mid-size US city had set up a memorial service for her
about a week later, and there was a long line. I didn't mind waiting to
sign the book, and was impressed that all those other Americans cared about
her so much. Let's remember that she wasn't just a pretty royal face who
knew charm, but a courageous woman who put herself out in the world for its
people, and suffered indignities gracefully.
