Two questions come to mind :
Is Book 2, <The Wise Man's Fear> as good

and

does that it won the 2007 Quill Award say anything about whether to
expect the 2006 and 2005 Quill winners in sf/fantasy to be readable also,
(<A Breath of Snow and Ashes> and <The Stupidest Angel> )?

Reading the linked entry would have put me off without this
recommendation. Any description/review that starts with a paragraph
detailing all the possible covers would tend to suggest that the content
isn't that great!

Maybe that's just me, I shall see if the library have sufficient funds
left after DVD purchasing to obtain me a copy.

Cheers,

With a little searching, you should find an epub copy.

/The Stupidest Angel/ is for sure, along with anything else by
Christopher Moore. Not really SF and not altogether Fantasy either, but
who cares when something is this funny, insightful, touching,
well-written and even Pratchett-like. But if you decide to read TSA, you
should probably start with the first one in that set, /Practical Demon
Keeping/ and then the middle one, /The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove/.

On the subject of SF/fantasy mix has anyone else read Peter F.
Hamilton's Void series? I know he's hard work and it takes a fortnight
to wade through each book but those are quite good. The added advantage
is that when you finish the books you can use them as bricks for any
purpose you may require bricks for..:-)

Ok, I have them now on the bedside bookcase - who knows when I'll get
down the pile that far but they shall be read then. Thanks.

They're worth elevating up the pile a bit, certainly to a Pratchett fan.
The approach is very similar, though the content is completely different.
