According to the local Dymock's bookstore, they are expecting Hogfather
to arrive sometime in mid January.

That's in Geelong. Sydney and Melbourne may be a week or two earlier,
but I wouldn't hold my breath.

That's odd, I've been told at least one bookshop over in the Land of Fog
is going to have it in by Hogswatch..

(but I couldn't wait so I'm getting a copy from ppint :-) )

I can hardly contain myself, but Dymocks phoned back today and told my
wife that the book was in stock. I went in today, and one happy litte
Vegemite is now reading Hogfather.

The good news is, they lied! I have my copy now. (Nearly finished,[1]
and will be by the time you read this [2]).

I was going to wait but I found a place with half a dozen or so copies
last Saturday and a couldn't resist. The guy at the shop said I was the
first person in the country to get a copy. Anyone in New Zealand get a
copy earlier? Either imported personally or through a shop.

Ghods it's good to be the bastard and not the poor sap waiting for ages
for the book to arrive for a change. :-) I could begin to like this
feeling!

I imported one via ppint, and it arrived before the weekend. I am now
wondering whether I should read it _before_ wrapping it up and giving
it to the SO as an Xmas present. Dammit, I hate having a conscience.
So you may well be the first NZer to read it.

Anyway, may I add a plug for ppint? Not only did the book arrive
safely, but it was wrapped in that plastic stuff full of air bubbles,
which is really fun to pop.[1] :-)

BTW, what's the name and address of that excellent-sounding shop?

It's been in the libraries for a while. Or at least one library.

Gee, it's handy knowing people who work there, and can get it before
everyone else, and lend it to other Pratchett fans... :)

Hey I like popping those bubbles too. I think of it's application for
packing as purely incidental to it's main function. Which is of course
to make a cool popping sound.

The name of the shop is Scribbles and it's address is 295 Queen St.
Auckland.

There was a sketch show on TV some time ago, which did "The
Anti-penultimate, Penultimate and Last Temptations of Christ". First
off, the Devil offers Jesus a Fruit Pastel "Oh look, it's the black
one!". Which he resists. Then a coffee. "It's a new jar, would you
like to break the seal?" Again resistance. Then he produces a carriage
clock. Jesus says something like "I have no need for earthly
possessions" so the Devil throws it away, and says "but look what it
came wrapped in" and produces a sheet of bubble wrap!

Personally, I'd've succumbed to the coffee.
