Takes "self-promotion" to new heights (or maybe depths).

From the promotion on that page, I would expect the book to be
wrenchingly wretched. The protagonist is named "Him."

Ack hack barfbarfbarf.

Could be worse, Rock.
He could be named "Hymn".
He could have a little sister named "Motet".

I quote: "Ack hack barfbarfbarf." :)

I counter with my comicbook hero: "Hugh Manatee."

Hugh, along with his female sidekick, "Bing Dugong," saves the planet
daily before teatime. His motto is: "Is it good for Hugh Manatee?"

Yes, but it's uniformly naked.

You Utter, Utter swine...:-)

I really hate it when I have to look up SSR references that I've known
about since 19tumpty,tumpty (actually 1977 at a railway station in Wales -
It was raining and the place was called Claerwen (although possibly with
more consonants and fewer vowels)).

I still think the "I was waiting for the word charge" line in the first
book just worked.

And yes I do remember Napoleon (that's only a spoiler if you've actually
read the book, or a different book which also has that person in it, or the
thong about the pigs, maybe heard the Hazel O'Connor song)

I always knew we should either shoot or lock up all the Coypus!

Now that we've[1] confused a great many people shall we run for Prez and
Vice-Prez of YooNeff (I think that's right - can't find my copy of "The
Forever War" right now) on a "Kill everyone who isn't us" ticket?

Seems to work for most of the Western World!

Claerwen is more of a reservoir.
