There are certainly chocolate cakes baked in Germany and in adjacent
German-speaking countries (Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte and Sachertorte
being the most famous), but one glance at the ingredient list told me
that that recipe was definitely of USAnian origin. Pecan frosting is not
generally found this side of the pond, except in recipes imported from
the other side. We tend to use walnuts.
